KENOSHA, Wis. — A Kenosha County judge has dismissed the case against former Kenosha Unified School District administrator Curtiss Tolefree Jr., bringing an end to a nearly seven-year legal saga that began with serious sexual assault allegations made by a then-17-year-old student many years after the alleged incidents were said to have occurred.
On October 3, 2025, Deputy District Attorney Rosa Delgado moved to dismiss the case, citing witness-availability issues. Ten days later, on October 13, Judge Anthony Milisauskas granted the motion and dismissed the case without prejudice, meaning prosecutors could theoretically refile the charges in the future. Two serious charges were dismissed early on in the case.
Tolefree was charged in 2019 following an investigation by the Kenosha Police Department into conduct alleged to have occurred during the 2008–2009 school year while he was Dean of Students at Mary D. Bradford High School. Had the case proceeded to trial, he could have faced significant prison time if convicted. He was initially represented by Attorney Denise Hertz-McGrath and later by Attorney David Berman.
Tolefree’s Statement of Faith and Gratitude
After the dismissal, Tolefree provided the following written statement to Kenosha County Eye:
“I first and foremost give thanks to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for this outcome. My faith in Him and my unwavering belief that He would do exactly what He said He would do brings me great joy.
I am deeply thankful for my loving wife, who has stood faithfully by my side throughout this entire process with her love, support, and prayers. I also extend my heartfelt gratitude to my family, my church family, and my dearest friends for their continued encouragement and strength.
Knowing that this day would come for nearly seven years, I’ve reflected on what I might say if asked whether I had any regrets or anger about all that has transpired. My response is simple: I am not angry. However, I do regret that my family had to endure the challenges that this process brought into our lives. I also regret that some of the individuals I’ve had the privilege to work with, lead, or teach may have questioned who I am or what I stand for.
Even so, I remain thankful. Thankful for who God has shaped me to become through it all. My passion for Christ, for discipleship, and for ministry to the less fortunate is stronger now than ever before.
I have been blessed to work alongside incredible educators who continue to give their time, resources, and hearts to ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn and succeed. Together, we transformed environments once labeled as failing schools into safe, thriving communities of learning—where student achievement increased and conflicts dramatically decreased. Watching students grow from being several grade levels behind to achieving readiness and confidence for success was among my greatest joys.
To all of my former colleagues: thank you. Continue to change lives, mold minds, and inspire our future leaders.
As for me, I remain committed to the work of transformation—but now, my focus is on eternal impact. I am devoted to helping as many people as possible come to know Christ Jesus and experience the power of His salvation.”
— Curtiss Tolefree Jr.

this man is an absolute weirdo! he has also been found to have been let go and investigated for sexual misconduct. not the kind of man i want preaching to me about the word of god. he is as unholy as they come.
I know a lot of ” Man of God” just like him that would fuck a snake if you held it for him.
Goes to show you not everyone who is over charged in Kenosha does what they are accused of..
Dismissed doesn’t mean he didn’t do anything against the law.
And being charged doesn’t mean you broke the law. Works both ways
What is meant by “colored”? Is this yet another racist remark from an extremely racist citizen of an extremely racist city????
Please send 17 year old girl to Curtus’s office for some coal sausage. Talk about tardy pants, detention is a little different for the naughty girls when they are called to his office. I love how Curtus found the Lord.
It was dismissed because the victim moved out of state, and doesn’t want to be bothered to leave her child (possibly the suspects child) or disrupt her child’s school. Nobody deemed him “innocent”, and it was dismissed with no prejudice, so if the victim decides to participate it can be charged again. I would be interested if a paternity test was done.
why did it take 7 years? This was set up to set curtus the colored free from the beginning.
17 year old girls lie – no, make that all loosey-goosey females who get their psychological rocks off making trouble so to become centers of attention. 7 year legal drama? Nothing but legal/technical oregami artiface by the legal eagle elites so to get a bigger Local cut of the State legal funds for DA budgets and private defense attorney income.
How many times now have we seen men be wrongfully accused? Significantly. After 7 years with no evidence this case was dismissed. I can just imagine the damage that this has done to him and his family. He did incredible things at Bradford so I’m glad he’s continuing his work of transformation and impact to help people because after a situation like this, a lot of people would have lost their passion and willingness to want to help anyone. Goes to show yet again that just because someone is accused of something, doesn’t mean it’s true. Have to dig in deeper and get the facts and after years of Investigation into him, I’m glad it’s now clear that he stands innocent of the things he was accused of And I’m glad he’s deciding to continue down the path of creating positive change and transformation for others in the community the same way he helped so many as an educator. The sheer amount of people this man, his family and his church feed for free out of the kindness of their hearts and in charity to community every Tuesday is incredible.chnaged and saved families throughout the entire pandemic and civil out rest in this city. That is something that’s worth a lot of respect and gratitude
Again- if he’s lying please convict him. If she’s lying, charge her. Kenosha NEVER has charged accusations that are false. And I am by no means accusing her of that in this situation.
Remember when Jacob Blake’s girlfriend lied and said he broke into her apt and forced his fingers inside of her to “see” if she was cheating? That’s what his warrant was for and DA did nothing. I believe Solis still has time on the clock for either side of that one as well….
Dismissed doesn’t mean he didn’t do something wrong.
Judging by some of these comments a lot of you people are sick! Imagine if it was your child. Would you not stop at nothing to convict?! Absolutely. This case from the beginning was crap. Some people think of ways to sue, & etc after 7 years they got the point. I’m happy for him his family & friends
Anyone here on March 13 after mentally handicapped sexual assault charges?
