(Kenosha County Eye)

KENOSHA, Wis. – A once-celebrated Kenosha nonprofit that had a major fundraiser scheduled for tomorrow—an event that had already raised thousands of dollars—is now in turmoil after allegations surfaced that its founder, Alanna Schumacher, stole money from the organization meant to help local families. According to her Facebook page, Schumacher is a special education professional with the Kenosha Unified School District, but KUSD told KCE she resigned in 2023.

    1. Most of\nAll I don’t know if you know this guy actually pays people for stories, he seeks it out. This is his career. He doesn’t care to put factual things out.He just says making a living paying his utility bill and his phone bill. You ever thought about that. He’s actually.
A disgusting human being. I know for a fact because I worked for somewhere. And he reached out to me and offered me $500 to give me the goods on the place I worked for so he could post a story he’s a disgusting human being. If he has family. They should be ashamed of him. This is why America is so bad. Because there’s people like this. That. Put people’s hardships out there with having facts to hurt others to make money. There’s the greed in this story.

      1. Hey Anonymous, are you Alanna??
Kevin does not pay people for stories, but he is a journalist, and yes, this is his career. However, he would not make it very far if he didn’t tell the truth. The problem is, you are standing up for darkness and makingi up a phony story to try and shift the blame from the real criminal, Alanna Schumacher!

        17
        11
        1. No way Kevin pays anyone! The public reaches out to him, not the other way around.
Yes, many reach out because they need a news source to air their concerns. Saying Kevin pays, you clearly don’t know a thing about the author. Go crawl under a rock with your B.S.

          59
          8
            1. I guess you’d expect him to research, show up, use his own resources indefinitely, FOR FREE??!!! FFS, even that trashy FB group KenoshScanner won’t give up the good unless you pay to play. STFU

        2. Nope not Alanna just a concerned citizen that knows for a fact when she worked for a previous employer that this gentleman reached out to her and actually offered to pay her five hundred dollars for some tea on this current business.

          3
          2
          1. I CALL BS…unless you’d care to share your name as evidence you are telling the truth yourself? Yeah, don’t think so.

        3. Have nothing to do with atlanta actually. I’m\nSomebody that he reached out to and offered to get the tea on a business that had been here for many years , that has a new owner that wasn’t conducting their business in a fair and practical ethical way and offered to pay me money so nice try

        1. Kevin still owes me 10 bucks he borrowed in high school when he forgot his lunch money.

I can confirm, Kevin has never paid a penny (or 10 dollars) to anybody!

      2. Pretty sure Mr. Mathewson can track these comments, pretty sure accusations like this are going to get you sued… and he always wins.

  1. It’s refreshing when a KUSD employee is accused of a crime and it’s not a sex crime. We’re making progress.

  2. We have tons of non profit organizations that need to be “investigated “ for embezzlement in Kenosha ! From the one at Grace Lutheran Church (LOK) to the Linda Faye.. so many.

    25
    4
    1. Grace Lutheran Church? Not embezzlement. Get your facts straight. Preacher tries to take non profit money from non profit, non profit moved its rightful money to another non profit account.

      4

      1. Agreed this young lady is an amazing human being. She’s actually been targeted because another person on the board wanted to be paid.Who had been complaining about it for well over a year and been threatening to actually leave if she wasn’t paid. This person also pulled the trigger and decided that she was no longer gonna commit a great cause and finish the fun raisers and the things that they have already committed to. Taking from the community. Says a little bit about the reputation of the people who are actually still running this not for profit. I know for a fact the girl that’s being accused for this was so opposed and disgusted by the fact that they wer in a continue doing the right thing and committing to their current fundraisers that they’ve already investedent. Even even ask them at the board meeting to take a minute and reflect. And she will take time for them to figure out. Whatever they think they’re making up, but please continue doing things for the community. So let’s take a little harder.Look at the s***** people that are behind the scenes , making accusations who gave permission for her to do what she did is in with the by law clauses within their non profit organization

        5
        6
    2. How can you embellish your own money DO YOUR RESEARCH ITS FUNDED BY ME NOW GRANTS NO ALL YEAR FUNDING CAMPAIGNS now come out and see what we really do

      1

      1. Seriously, can any of you “anon” folks put a coherent sentence together or is this just spewing mindless crap how you get things done??? WTF

        2
        2
      1. What’s disgusting actually is the current members or betwe’re bagged by this accused of young lady to please continue , helping the community and stay committed to their clause. And commit themselves to the things they have already committed to.But there’s somebody on the board that made this accusations that wanted to be paid.Herself basically had her entire family pressuring her that if she did not get paid she would no longer have time or be able to do this because she’s currently pregnant. This young lady if she really truly cared about this nod for profit , she would have done the turkey drive , she shoot , did the food drive , she would have continued , helping the community cause the funds are there , but no , she’s not being paid , so she’s not going to do that , so there’s way more behind this story than actually being reported , which is disgusting

        3
        6
    3. How about the individuals / businesses that are collecting funds that aren’t a 501(c)(3)?

How is a coffee shop collecting donated funds directly to his personal account? Riddle me that batman. cough cough

      Black Coffee

Doesn’t pay his bills, bad at business, and now we should trust him with community donated funds? #kenoshastrong

  3. Maybe she hangs out with Jan Herman, ex PTO member at prairie lane Elementary. They can embezzle from non-profits together. 🙄 How pathetic.

    15
    1
    1. DO YOUR RESEARCH LINDA FAYE FOUNDATION GETS FUNDED BY ME THE COMMUNITY HAS NEVER BEEN OUR RESOURCE OF HOW WE GET FUNDS!!! TYPICAL SCARY PERSON WITH A FALSE COMMENT NOW PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS FOR THE COMMUNITY

      2
      8
      1. Point proven here he’s a nut job . He has funding from united way and many places on the page but then again maybe that’s a lie as well

        1
        1
    2. EVERYONE IS A NARCISSISTIC UNTIL YOU NEED THEM LOL I CAN CARELESS HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT ME!!! NOW WHEN YOU WANT TO BECOME KNOWN ILL SHOW YOU WHAT I BEEN DOING FOR 25 YEARS IN THE COMMUNITY

  4. Stealing money that hard working people have donated to help struggling families is the ultimate betrayal. Disgusting.

    21
    1. I know for a fact because I have seen it and was there to witness it.She had permission to do these things by two people that are on her board. The things she did are all within the bylaws of their non for profit and prior to this , she’s the founder and has done this 4 years without a single dime or anything. She was in a current hardship herself and could no longer afford to pay for these things that actually were used to run the non for profit , seeing the other people that were involved with this didn’t want to do the majority of the work.

      2
      3
      1. Yes most of all gready alanna is a selfless human being that actually did this for 4 years. Never received a single thing. Put on so many amazing things for the community so help so many families. You should probably do your homework and find out the kind of stuff that She actually did had an Easter egg hunt. Did the giving garage did every child should have a birthday party? The list is endless. Pretty sick that somebody greedy within the association. Did it see the bigger picture? And that would not be alanna

        2

  5. It has nothing to do with kusd as it is not affiliated with the district. I dont believe she has worked for kusd for 3 or 4 years at least.

    5
    1
  6. She was even planning to charge struggling families 99¢ a month, and anyone who couldn’t afford it would lose access on January 1. That group is full of posts with genuinely helpful advice for tough situations, plus a lifeline for moms who need food or formula. Greed always finds a way of kicking the ladder out from under everyone, prayers for all families that will be affected and may have also been looking forward to the groups thanksgiving and toy drive

    9
    1
    1. This person has never been greedy , not one moment out of the four years that she gave her life to this cause. She actually had a hardship herself and kept it together and continued giving to the community. She was given permission.By people in her board to do what she did along with being within the guidelines of they’re not for profit causes. The person who actually decided to do this has been begging to be paid for the last year, threatening to leave if she doesn’t get paid.So sometimes people need to breathe and actually look a little deeper and find out what this is truly about

      4
      2
  7. … the people you “see” in need.
If you see a person that can use some help, give them money directly. No need to filter it through someone else.

When there are fund raisers for trips that these kids go on like volleyball tournaments and such they will sell popcorn or candy or whatever.
    I just give them cash.
Otherwise 50% goes to buy the popcorn I don’t want and Candy I shouldn’t eat.

    7
    1
    1. Instead of money, give what they need: food, toys, clothes, etc. if you give money it may not go to the kids if the mom is a POS.

      3
      1
      1. It’s a great idea to give the toy, etc. However, I have seen parents go so low as to sell or return the items that were donated to get the cash for themselves. Unfortunately, we can’t make it entirely fool proof, but this is a good idea too.

  8. Wow. I was looking this morning for somewhere to donate or to sponsor a family for Thanksgiving. I was going to make a donation and then this popped up. It really makes you not want to donate. It’s sad.

  9. Linda Faye Foundation does the same thing, they have taken quite a bit money from the community with little to none going back in.

    6
    3
      1. *Eyerolls * what does 262 really do ? Have we actually seen these so called events because it looks like he is asking for money as well .He gets grants and donations from various sources so I hope he can have people donate food to “give” a dinner to the homeless, read a book to a school , and many of these so called organizations received special funding with the Jacob Blake incident . Let’s see the numbers , receipts , and results ! Let’s see the excel spreadsheet! Let’s see the form 990 Tax returns ! Give us transparency! I might add he has literally no skill set as a “DJ” I watched him perform at Carthage college he’s arrogant and cocky for no reason (inserts many eyerolls again) Please people you can play better music from your YouTube phone playlist to a speaker ! Save the money !

      1. Exactly. And this young lady paid for a cell phone that actually was used for the non non profit and utility bill for the non profit which actually is ran in that home. Let’s not forget about the fact that this organization has been around for well over 4 years. And this amazing young woman chose never to take anything until she had a hardship.Herself and could not afford to keep on doing it on her own. Lastly, it was approved.
        By somebody on the board.

  10. I really wish you would’ve waited on posting this until we see the verdict. I heard this charity actually helps those in need and so much more for your community. Didnt an famous Bball player help this charity in the past ??? Why are you throwing them in the toaster before any evidence is shown ?? I am very much betting what the KPD will find nothing significant to charge her with. I am hoping its just some jealous human that cant have the right handle in life. You just threw in an wrench in one golden charity in that city. Hundreds of families depend on that charity often. Sheeeshhhh!

    10
    23
  11. Good morning folks. Unfortunately, embezzlement, theft of property, fraudulent activities have become the new norm. A side hustle in these monsters tiny minds.

    2
    2
  12. I think it’s very disgusting how people can get on here and try to drag in another non-profit. Especially when there’s so much proof on how much DJ262 Linda Faye foundation does first so many that man has been going above and beyond for over 25 years, and I have witnessed personally was so crazy. Is this pictures and a paper trail? So while you’re all talking about investigating. How about you all speak to all the kids to adults that he has helped from the gas giveaway’s to dinners. Suggest reaching out to people when they’re going through a hard time. This is so sick that y’all try to bring people down, but smile in his face. That man does so much so so much feeding the community, helping people start businesses. Buying wardrobe for kids to start school, buying gas.So many charity events me and I could go on and on

  13. What’s with the special education department in KUSD. I’m aware of another teacher that has been sucking off the government teet in housing since 2020 and just recently was found out by WHEDA and forced to go on the lease. This man needs to pay taxpayers back along with Alanis. 😡😡😡😡😡😡

    1
    3
  14. The way the people “in the know” in these comments can’t put together a coherent sentence is scary. I sure hope these are not the people running the non-profit. If so, no wonder it’s a mess.

    5
    1
  15. I’m not connected to, or even familiar with, this nonprofit group — but from what I can tell, these are still just allegations. Whatever happened to “innocent until proven guilty”? There’s always a chance she’s been accused by someone who’s jealous, spiteful, or maybe just doesn’t understand how the organization operates.

As I understand it, it’s not unusual for people who run nonprofits to be fairly compensated for their work, with any remaining funds going toward the cause — not to shareholders. Obviously, if she actually stole money or took anything beyond what was agreed upon, that’s wrong and should carry the proper legal and reputational consequences.

But if this turns out to be a false accusation, it would be a real shame for her reputation to be destroyed — and for an organization that’s genuinely helped people to be torn apart — over nothing. And if it is proven that the accusation was false, I hope whoever started it is exposed and held accountable as well, and required to publicly apologize for the damage they caused.

  16. Integrity is what you do when nobody is watching.
Ask the Tangerine In Chief. He is setting the example for these people.

    2
    4
  17. Seriously, can any of you “anon” folks put a coherent sentence together or is this just spewing mindless crap how you get things done??? WTF

    1
    1
  18. This group was great when it was a simple community of Moms willing to help one another meet various needs. The giving garage was a great addition, but once it started really growing, they seem to have lost the focus of how it started:
    Moms helping Moms.

That’s what this area needs- something similar to Wisconsin Town Hall- but limited to Moms. A few admins that can block scammers/spammers, remove people for ghosting during sales agreements, and then let the Moms form a community.

It’s really a shame that it got so far off track, in an attempt to grow beyond what is really needed.
