EDITOR’S NOTE (Sept. 10, 2026, 6:35 p.m.): A Kenosha County jury found Peter E. Johnson III not guilty today on all four felony charges described in the original story below. The jury reached its verdict at 11:41 a.m. following a two-day trial before Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge Heather Iverson. Johnson was found not guilty of two counts of repeated sexual assault of a child and two counts of child enticement. Following the verdicts, the court released Johnson from all conditions of bond. The original story remains below as it was published at the time and should be read in light of today’s acquittals.

KENOSHA, Wis. — A 44-year-old Kenosha man, Peter E. Johnson III, was charged in court today with multiple Class C and Class D felonies after two now-adult sisters reported years of escalating sexual abuse that they say began when they were around 11 years old. Johnson, a Kenosha Unified School District school bus driver employed by First Student, is accused of repeatedly assaulting the girls from 2017 through 2024, according to the criminal complaint.
