KENOSHA, Wis. — Santa isn’t the only one checking lists this year — now Kenosha County Eye is doing it, too, and we’re publishing ours twice a week.
Beginning immediately, Kenosha County Eye will roll out a new Naughty and Nice List feature every Wednesday and Saturday, shining a light on local residents who make Kenosha better — and calling out public figures who seem determined to do the opposite. It’s meant to be fun, festive, and community-driven, and KCE is inviting readers to help shape each installment.
Nominations can be submitted by email, text message, or anonymously through the tip form on the Kenosha County Eye website. KCE wants to hear from anyone who knows a neighbor, volunteer, teacher, business owner, or everyday resident who has done something extraordinary — or continues to do something quietly meaningful that deserves recognition. Those individuals will be celebrated on the Nice List.
When submitting a nomination, readers should include the person’s name and a brief description of why he or she deserves to be placed on the respective list. KCE expects a high volume of submissions, and while many will be worthy, only a select few can be featured each week.
The Naughty List, meanwhile, is reserved for people whose actions have already become part of the public conversation — public officials, community leaders, and private individuals tied to controversies that are undeniably public in nature. This isn’t a place for personal vendettas or private disputes; KCE is keeping the focus on conduct that affects the broader community.
Kenosha County Eye plans to publish the lists twice weekly throughout the season. However, in the spirit of the holidays, the week leading up to Christmas will feature only Nice List recipients, placing the spotlight squarely on positivity and goodwill.
As Kenosha heads deeper into the festive stretch, KCE encourages readers to get involved, send in nominations, and help celebrate the people who lift the community up — while also keeping an honest eye on those who don’t.

Don’t put Steinbrick Jr. on the naughty list. He told me he’s putting 11% menards rebates into my stocking this year. What a good guy!
What’s up with these Steinbrinks? Nobody ever moved into that grey house they built for Stienbrink Jr’s sister,( I read that is who it was built for), you don’t see any vehicles at Jr’s house, and there is no activity at Sr’s house. You see the decorations change at the grey house, but basically, it’s like nobody lives in those houses anymore. Once in awhile you’ll see a car here and there, but never any continuous presence. I’m surprised Squatters haven’t taken over their homes!

Does destroying a wetland get you thrown on the naughty list by chance?
If so, you could add the Kenosha County Highways to that list— they did a number on some Highway K wetlands… but that never made the news.
Don’t forget to add the guy who filled in his wetlands off State Line Rd
Remember their motto: Rules for Thee, Not Me. Salem Lakes is no different, those pictures are unbelievable. Interestingly, wetland destroyer Hiller decided to move on, but we’re still stuck with certain board members carrying on her work. Ugh.
The daily crime blotter and the judges who support them is a good start for the shit list.
Bob Wirch would like to know if there’s any free food awarded for being on either list.
I have attended numerous charity/fundraiser pancake breakfasts and fish fries over the past 40 years which Bob Wirch attended. During that time, I never saw him not pay for his food. However, I and others putting on the fundraiser or doing charitable work, have received letters of recognition from Bob Wirch supporting our efforts in trying to make Kenosha a better community. Bob Wirch has been very active in supporting charitable organizations/efforts in Kenosha.
Kevin Matthewson, commendably, is doing the same with his Nice List. Hats off to Kevin. Positive actions are always more palatable than negative ones.
Well if Bob sent me letters of recognition I’d probably say nice things about him too. Put me down for 2 lumps of coal I guess.

This unknown to me. I sat across from Pete at only one function. I have had positive and negative interactions with him over the years. There are definitely different ways he interacts with you dependent upon how he perceives your profession and whether you are in public the public eye or out of the public eye at the time. I find his protege, Tip McGuire, to be much more genuine and a bit more willing to see all sides of an argument – less concerned about the Rs or Ds, but the what matters. As he finds his stride, he’ll be an interesting person to watch.
In a world full of so much hate, fear, and sensationalism, don’t be a Pharisee.

The naughty list would be pretty long and could include people no one would assume to be naughty. The nice list would be short.
