PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. — The Pleasant Prairie Police Department announced today that one of its own has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation into what officials initially described as a concerning off-duty encounter that occurred Wednesday afternoon.
According to a complaint filed with the department, the incident involved K-9 Chase — yes, that K-9 Chase — and a Pleasant Prairie resident identified as Frosty T. Snowman. The complainant alleged that the police dog “ripped his arm off” during an unprovoked confrontation, prompting an immediate review by Internal Affairs.
But before anyone panics, here’s where the tone of the story shifts — because the whole thing is a joke written by the police department itself.
The Pleasant Prairie Police Department released a light-hearted video showing K-9 Chase gleefully prying a stick “arm” off of a front-yard snowman. Frosty did, in fact, lose a limb, but the department has already “replaced” it, and officials say a formal apology from the four-legged officer is expected any moment now.
The playful post — shared Thursday afternoon on the department’s social media pages — features slow-motion “surveillance footage,” dramatic music, and an officer narrating the supposed misconduct with mock seriousness. The department captioned it as an “off-duty conduct complaint” and encouraged the community to leave comments with any “additional information.”
While the headline may look like a major law-enforcement scandal, the Pleasant Prairie Police Department’s intent was purely to bring some humor to a cold December week. K-9 Chase remains very much on duty, very much beloved, and — according to sources close to the investigation — still very proud of himself for defeating a snowman.

Cute! Lol
It’s nice to read something humorous here. It’s usually pretty bleak tbh.
Saw this on PPPD’s site yesterday and my heart stopped initially….then I saw Chase. Of course he did this!! Protecting his home!
so funny!
That snowman did, in fact, have it coming. Good dog.
The snowman must be a pedophile.
🤣
wow
K9 Chase investigated an intruder in his back yard and swiftly disarmed him. He deserves a medal for action “above and beyond off duty”.
