KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. — Spring 2026 election season is now officially underway in Kenosha County, with nomination papers circulating and every seat on the County Board and Kenosha Common Council up for grabs in April.
Prospective candidates were allowed to begin collecting signatures on Dec. 1, and all nomination paperwork must be filed by 5 p.m. Jan. 6. The spring election will be held April 7, with primaries on Feb. 17 in any race that draws more than two candidates.
Every one of the 23 seats on the Kenosha County Board is on the ballot, along with the county’s top job — County Executive. All 17 seats on the City of Kenosha Common Council are also up for election, making the 2026 spring ballot one of the most consequential in recent years. Village board, town board, and local school board seats will also appear on the ballot, depending on the municipality. Statewide and regionally, voters will see contested races for Wisconsin Supreme Court justice and 2nd District Court of Appeals judge.

To make it easier for people considering a run, County Clerk Regi Waligora’s office has launched a new “How to Run for County Elected Office” guide online. The resource outlines required forms, deadlines, and where documents must be filed.
“We wanted to create a one-stop spot to make it easy for potential candidates to find what they need to do to get on the ballot,” Waligora said. “The page lays out step-by-step what forms need to be filed and what deadlines need to be met.”
Nomination papers and related documents for county-level offices must be filed with the Kenosha County Clerk. Those running for city offices file with the municipal clerk, and school board candidates file with their respective districts.
Signature requirements vary by office. Candidates for County Executive must collect between 500 and 1,000 valid signatures. County Board candidates need 100 to 200 signatures from residents within their district. City Council candidates must obtain between 20 and 40 signatures, while school board totals differ by district.
Incumbents who do not plan to seek re-election must file a declaration of non-candidacy by 5 p.m. Dec. 26. Failure to do so could extend ballot deadlines if that race suddenly becomes open, potentially complicating timelines during what is already shaping up to be a crowded and competitive spring election.

Do your homework people. The (R) or (D) mean nothing.
So very true. That comment is spot on. Everybody do your homework. Some but not all candidates will come to your village or Town meetings and speak during public comments. It’s only three minutes or so but at least you’ll see them and hear them at that time. Some will even stay for the whole meeting and you can talk to them after or you can come early and talk to them before. Definitely do your research. Though sometimes it’s easier to just pick the people you don’t want and then who’s ever is left Is who you vote for.
Real votes mean nothing…
Kevin should run for county executive he would get my vote!!
It’s because of Kevin that things are so contested these days. If he wasn’t here, I’m not sure who would step up and do what he’s doing. I don’t think there’s anybody out there that can do what he’s doing and how he’s doing it and get the public so involved as he does. Kevin‘s great where he’s at. Maybe someday but not today.
He should but he ain’t got the balls to. Then he can be a target and be held accountable for successes or failures. I would love to see him run though.
You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want Kevin on that wall — you need Kevin on that wall. I would rather that you just said “thank you” and went on your way.
Is this for alderman positions as well ?
Yes. You can find the list of positions on the Kenosha county website under election information.
So with all the illegal aliens voting, “Mail in voting”, lazy ass “absentee” voting, and all the rats jumping ship in killinois voting…..there isn’t a chance of fair elections. Ill never vote again, until they stop the bullshit. Same day, in person, paper ballots with a fingerprint. 3rd world countries have a more honest voting system. This country is fucked.
Man. People hate the truth. Sad, and pathetic.
Truth hurts.
Man. People hate the truth. Sad, and pathetic.
Truth hurts.
That may be true , but your not helping by not voting at all!
I won’t play in a rigged game. 2 wings of the same bird. MIGA
Ariba, ariba!!!!
Well then I believe you’re right to complain is null and void if you are not going to vote.
I used to say the same thing. You think you have a choice…..but the choices are made for you. If illegals/foreigners can vote, and run for office, then you have no choice. Our country is broken, and run by foreign entities….ones you can’t mention on this page because they are protected.
