Washington’s Murder Trial Begins With Conspiracy Claims, Combative Cross-Examination, and Accusations of Police Misconduct

KENOSHA, Wis. — The murder trial of 36-year-old Tiron M. Washington began Monday in Kenosha County Circuit Court, launching what is expected to be a lengthy and unpredictable legal battle. Washington is accused of assassinating 35-year-old Maximillion Moore, who at the time of his death was expected to be a cooperating witness and informant in a federal gun prosecution. Prosecutors say the killing was intentional, calculated, and carried out to prevent Moore from testifying. Washington faces life in prison if convicted of the top charge.
