PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. — The Village of Pleasant Prairie has selected Chandler, Arizona Police Lieutenant David Selvidge to become the community’s next police chief, replacing longtime Chief David Smetana, who plans to retire in early 2026. Village leaders have not yet announced Selvidge’s official start date, leaving the timing of the transition still unknown.

I would prefer Pauly!
Yup
Second time they chose an outside applicant.
That idiot rode everyone else’s coattails to success. His whole career was “fake it till you make it”. He plagiarizes and steals other people’s work, takes credit for stuff he didn’t do, leads officers into doing illegal acts all because he doesn’t know his job. I can’t believe he hasn’t lead the department into in a major lawsuit. But then again Smetana has covered for him for years. The village as a whole should be investigated by the feds for all of the corruption!
Sounds like the Prairie is going to keep kicking ass and taking names. Good luck Chief.
Sounds a little over qualified, but better than under…so what are we paying him?
It won’t be less than what he makes now=higher taxes
Arizona is the Wild West, he will tough on crime. A lot of great law enforcement for Arizona.
Wild west?….🤣
Right, Mike Rizzo was a great cop.
Right. Were all the retirees move to.
Expect aggressive law enforcement.Jerkman and friends to get creative with things like emotional support hamsters 🐹
I wish him all the best but feel bad that an internal applicant was passed over
As long as he keeps Pleasant Prairie Police Department aggressive, God bless 👍🏻
That bringing in Bosses from the outside eliminates any favoritism, hard feelings or questionable decisions down the road.
Worthy people within will be recognized and utilized to the best of their abilities and commitment to the job.
That said, this guys resume is impressive.
Yet like the new administrator in Salem, I always wonder why people move this far for a job they should be able to get locally.
Arizona is a long way. A big change in climate too !
Begs the question why ?
Beg the question why? The answer is simple. PPPD is full of people who were promoted and shouldn’t have been. Ever wondered why a department that never took lateral transfers has been taking so many? Mostly incompetency but also Smetana doing crooked favors for his buddies.
Absolutely. Finally someone gets it.
Like chief crook , John Steinbrink Sr.
That the village board has recognized the internal problems and wanted a “clean” new leader ?
But isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black ?
The first people the new chief SHOULD arrest is the corrupt so-called leaders of un-Pleasant Prairie
I like the choice
Maybe he’ll make sure there is a 287g agreement with ICE in place. Probably has a lot of experience in dealing with criminal immigration issues.
Good point.
I’m ready for this Arizona boy to bring some reel Yosemite Sam policing to us here. Id say looks like a real swat operator who knows when how to take names and carees a real gun
Mike rizzos boss? Why not hire someone from Wisconsin that knows Wisconsin law? I think that would have been a better choice
Rizzo did not work for Chandler. He worked for Phoenix police
wisconsin laws don’t mean Shit in the force you know you don’t use it to much favoritism in police and courtrooms.
