KENOSHA, Wis. — The Kenosha Unified School District will host its 59th annual Choral Festival on Saturday, Feb. 21, bringing together more than 800 student singers from elementary, middle and high schools across the district for one of KUSD’s largest fine arts events of the year.
The concert is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. inside the Indian Trail High School field house. The festival will feature performances by four individual high school choirs, along with several combined ensembles, including mass choirs from middle and high schools, treble and bass voice choirs, and the All-City Elementary Choir.

This year’s guest conductor is Dr. Christopher Owen, an associate professor, department chair, chorus conductor and K-12 music education advisor at Northeastern Illinois University. In the days leading up to the performance, Owen will work directly with students, visiting secondary schools on Thursday, Feb. 19, and Friday, Feb. 20, to rehearse with participating choirs.
Tickets for field house seating are available online and cost $10, with a maximum of three tickets per purchaser. Tickets will not be sold at the door, and seating is expected to sell out in advance. The concert will also be streamed live on the district’s YouTube channel. In addition, the live stream will be shown in the Indian Trail High School auditorium, where guests may watch for free without a ticket.
Participating directors include Owen Mehring of Bradford High School and Bullen Middle School; Lindy Christensen of Harborside Academy; John Choi of Indian Trail High School and Academy; Elyse Harvancik of Tremper High School; Brianna Jandrowski of Lance Middle School; and Daniel Parks of Mahone Middle School. Kristen Singer will serve as the festival accompanist.
Additional information about the event is available through the Kenosha Unified School District’s fine arts department.
