KENOSHA, Wis. — About 50 students from Indian Trail High School and Academy participated in a planned walkout Thursday, marching and chanting from the school to the intersection of Green Bay Road and 75th Street and back — a round trip of nearly 2.8 miles — and were absent from class for roughly 90 minutes, according to observers.

The walkout occurred during sixth period in response to recent events in Minneapolis. In advance of the protest, Indian Trail High School and Academy notified families that classroom instruction would continue as scheduled and that state attendance rules would apply to students who left class without being excused.

Students who participated left campus under their own supervision. School officials had warned families that students who left campus would be unsupervised and that those who returned late to class could be marked tardy, while students who left class after it began and returned to the same class could be marked truant if not excused.

Parents were given the option to excuse their child before or after the walkout through the Infinite Campus app or by contacting the attendance office.

In the notice sent to families earlier in the day, Principal Scott Kennow said the school hoped students who chose to participate would do so “maturely and respectfully” and in accordance with the school’s code of conduct, while also respecting the rights and opinions of others. He also noted that staff supervision would remain in place on campus during the walkout period.

    1. Indian Trail Principal Scott Kennow is manipulating these children, grooming in fact, to reject the rule of law and endorse criminal elements that include rapists, molesters, human traffickers and financial fraud at scale.
This isn’t what we are paying taxes for!

      1. Think again about your response. Kennow is a decent principal. It is the board that has allowed children to rule the roost.

          1. Actually not, just a well-educated 19 year old. I’d gladly tutor you; but you’d have to leave your political ideologies at home.

      2. The Principal should assign homework instead. Look up Deputy Frank Fabiano and give a full report on what happened to him.

      1. That’s the problem with most students, they feel. No cognitive aptitude, but hey they’re in high school and they can feel! …..God we are so screwed as a nation.

        1. Only person who is screwed is you. You should worry about finishing your pissed in coffee rather than the lives and choices of minors

      2. Then they should be SUPPORTING ICE. Why would someone “support” child traffickers, murderers and rapists?

I understand democrats/liberals/progressives/communists/socialists supporting those scum, but why the kids?

    1. They left at 2 and school ends at 3. Teachers and the office were informed in advance. So now exactly what is your real gripe? Upset that they already know difference between someone trying to steal their basic human rights and sticking up for their basic human rights?

  1. I would bet students that protest for the latest (insert cause here) get extra credit in some way. Maybe instead of promoting activism, KUSD should focus on getting students to perform at grade level and discipline staff/administration that allow it.
The annual cost per student is a crime considering the end result.

    1. What is plan to punish adults who protest in protection of their legal rights? Still the drivers license punishment or maybe curfew? No beer before noon ?

  3. To all the people saying this was stupid you are all racist. It is our amendment right to protest and use our freedom of speech. I am one of the students who walked out today and we all hope you all eventually understand how I.C.E affects family’s and that “We the people..” means everyone. The constitution and the amendments not only apply to America citizens but everyone in our country. Another thing is that everyone has to be given a fair trial and that is not happening, people are just getting deported, killed, or sent to places that are practically concentration camps. This is not the American way, I hope you all understand this and all grow up.

    2. quit trying to defend your liberal retardation with big boy words. You guys are not going off of facts your going off of emotion. Renee Good was Shot cause she fucked around and found out , same with that other retard. These are Federal Law Enforcement. ICE is not here to kill or harm actually citizens , they are here to get rid of illegals. Which they should also get rid of you while they are at it. ICE has a job to do and people like YOU are the reason people get hurt cause you don’t let them do their job.

      5
      5
      1. If Ice is here to get rid of illegals, what is with all the citizens they continually harass and abuse that don’t appear to be illegals? I think you need to stop the drugs and alcohol and try thinking and watching news. throw away tour red hat and admit your a racist.

  4. any person disagreeing with this needs to wake up and get out of their brainwashed conservative minds because this is whats going to happen if the government is doing nothing to prevent their citizens from getting killed and wrongfully detained. Look at everyone who has died. even white people are getting killed. wake up and face that this country won’t get better. why does it have to take children protesting to open the eyes of this country to know this is wrong? why do the people that support this think detaining children is okay and killing immigrants are okay? please, open your mind and see this as a human being with hearts and not the mentality of whatever race you belong to. we are all the same at the end of the day.

    1. Omg go back to class! You haven’t used a single capitalization nor proper punctuation. Perhaps you should have stayed in class instead of drinking the koolaid everyone else is. Be different- think for yourself. Realize that illegal aliens need to become citizens like everyone else. If they don’t, they need to go home.

        1. Keep in mind that ice has Native Americans detained. There is no way in hell they are immigrants. WE stole their country and shoved them on reservations.

      2. if you think your ancestors came here legally they didn’t.. they slaughtered the native americans and tortured them. i don’t think my grammar matters so much in my comment if you can clearly understand what i’m saying

    2. You act as if the 2 individuals were innocent bystanders, play with fire you will get burned. Please leave the US you simple minded fuck, overstay your welcome/Visa in any country in this world and see what happens to you. I assure you, the detention centers in the US are much nicer than the immigration jails throughout the World.

      1. So now we’re a country that supports public executions? No due process? No civil investigations to maintain balance and order?
Be careful with that slippery slope. It’s all wonderful from that high horse you sit upon, but when it hits closer to home your tears will be just as passionate.

      1. lol! Please let me know how it’s not America’s land. I’ll wait. I’m going to guess you’ll bring up Indians. Who did they steal the land from? Aztecs? Who did they steal the land from? That is the stupidest point baby libtards to try to use.

  5. Kay did you just call me a Racist? My kids are half Mexican and half white. Their Grandfather came to America at 3 years old from Mexico. He became a US citizen ASAP . He embraced the Mexican tradition but respected America and LAWS. His kids wanted him to teach them Spanish in an effort to help their grades. He said No! You learned English and Spanish is a class you can take while in school later on. He fought in Korea for USA as an American citizen.

I lived in Southern CA and saw many many people cross the borders day after day for many years and many Presidents. But now after this President is stopping it and removing individuals here ILLEGALLY that have never bothered to become LEGAL, its wrong? Something had to stop what the prior administration (s) both R and D have turned a blind eye to. Our last President let floods of people into this country.

There is a process that my family fought in wars to protect based on our US Constitution. Not the Mexican or Venezuelan and US Constitution. Again calling me a racist shows or exposes your ignorance on the topic Kay.
And PS – my half Mexican kids agree that something need to be done about it

    28
    4
    1. You are right I lost my temper when I said racist and I’m sorry; but not everyone can afford or get approved to come here legally and a lot of people are in bad situations which they must get away from. Yes someone in your life decided to come here legally and was able to come here legally, which is great, but some people can’t do that. Another thing is that because the United States does not have a good visa system not everyone is able to “legal.“ Also just because you and your family are Mexican doesn’t mean you have the same opinions as every other Mexican person, which yes some Mexican people may think something needs to be done but some came from Mexico and struggled to get into the United States because the United States needs a better visa system.

      8
      11
      1. Kay I think you have been brainwashed by the liberal hivemind. What ICE does is give them due process. You don’t get due process of you are crossing the border illegally around 100 feet of the border. A judge will either accept or deny your claim. We can’t accept all these illegals. First it doesn’t make it fair for the people in other countries that have been waiting years for it and have done it the proper way. They didn’t decide to cut in line. A country needs to have borders. Period. ICE tries thier best to protect and defend from people that are sex traffickers and people apart of Ms13. I didn’t see a walkout when Obama was president. Who still remains the deporter in chief.

    2. That was a very touching story of your family member becoming a citizen of our great country. However, if the talking Cheeto that we currently have in office was in power at that time, none of the life he’s created here would have happened. I think we could all open our eyes and see what Donnie T is doing and admit that we are a far more divided country than we’ve ever been. At this point, our fearless Dictator Trump is just playing with the country as if it’s a video game he can just turn off when he’s ready to go back to normal. Hopefully we aren’t involved in another war by the time he puts down his video game controller and goes back to getting off with underage girls again to occupy his time.

        6
    3. Yes yes yes to all of this!!! I love when they throw the racist word around. It’s always the ignorant little children with no common sense and bad parents!

    4. With your kids being half white and Mexican and your family coming here. You should then understand that the US has a very broken immigration system. Please watch this attorney break down and explain the immigration system for you so you can understand the process of immigration: posting for educational purposes only: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DTV9dz6EuVF/?igsh=MWR4YjNndDZpZ3hobw==
It is sad that high schoolers had to protest because they don’t feel safe, that children are walking together in groups to ensure their family members or parents get to where they need to go safely. It’s sad that Americans, do not feel safe in their own country. US citizens getting shot & deported is not okay& ICE not providing judicial warrants, showing up at schools and arresting whoever they want that is brown or has an accent & fits a mold is considered racial profiling. So you want illegals to follow the law but it’s okay for ICE to not follow the law. People voted for a president that has a felony record but you’re concerned about illegals not following that law. Make that make sense. No one is above the law or our constitutional rights. I am sad for this country that grown adults are picking on high schoolers because they lack empathy & sympathy. People should be leading with love, LOVE THY neighbor. the one that doesn’t look like you. Think like you. Love like you. Speak like you. Pray like you. Vote like you. LOVE your neighbors (NO Exceptions) I don’t care who you voted for- what’s done is done. What does matter is what we choose to do next. We can listen. We can learn. We can move forward with love, kindness and positive change. Because kindness doesn’t hurt anyone. Love will always be louder. Love thy neighbor because god is watching you.

      1. God should always be capitalized in my world and 50% of your text is not correct. I dont do Instagram and in my opinion social media is bad and should be gone.

So, you state the immigration process is broken as did I. Many many administration’s have had opportunities to correct it but shyed away from the ” negative issue”. The brokenness continued for many years and to let people flood this country without going thru the proper channels as my family did, is wrong. Venezuela admitted to emptying their prisons etc, etc.

  6. so proud of them for standing up for what’s right. anyone saying they’re looking for a reason to skip genuinely needs to get their head out of their ass

    1. As one of the students who walked, I did infact have a few people saying they went simply because they were curious and / or they just wanted to get out of class and kill some time. But that wasn’t everyones mindset. I myself went in support of my friends,I held signs and watched the way everyone was together, and to see what a walk out was like, we all knew the consiquences of leaving the school, and I luckily had the class that I dont need to worry about because we were just doing a lab at that time, everyones allowed to have their oppinions but i think the people who start calling us adolescenses “Retarded” and “stupid” simply for doing what we ourselves believe in is just odd. I have nothing against people who support, I simply just want everyone to be okay, violence will always be around but everyone IN MY OPINION, should have a fair chance to do what they need to do. Everyone is titled to their opinions

  7. trumpies being the most inhumane, illiterate, underdeveloped and degenerate species on earth that have ever existed as always.

    1. Oooh we have th “Nazi” word tossed in. It was a matter of time before that word showed up. Libs are so boring.

      10

    1. If you don’t think so there are HUNDREDS of other countries to move to. What’s stopping you, I’d honestly love to hear.

      12

    1. Yes because the tax paying voters choose to support grapist and episteins sugar daddy so minors have to step up instead!

      6
      3
  8. can we deport that rapist that rules the country instead of innocent familes, kids, and actual US citizens??? can we get rid of him???

    12
    11
  9. Kay I appreciate your apology. But I have helped many a person obtain green cards during my time in SOCAL for employment.

There was a term used for people who came here wanting and willing to work hard in the US to better themselves and family. They inquired on becoming legal fairly quickly after arrival. But unfortunately like the human race we now have become, the desire to go thru the long process was easier to forget about.

You are correct on the process being cumbersome. That’s politics and today’s world. It shouldn’t be like that but until someone higher in the ranks fixes the issues they continue. But unfortunately what is being done may look and is ugly it has been long long over due.

Remember this, nothing nothing nothing is for free. That goes for citizenship or a happy meal. Work hard and dont expect easy. If it comes easy, so be it but hard work and a smart brain is in your best interest. Not walking out of school.

    11
    2
    1. These kids are witnessing the abomination of humanity in our country. They have a voice and want and should have the opportunity to be heard. One period of missed school (less than one hr) is really that big of a deal? These comments coming through- do none of you have any decency, no sense of humanity? It’s beyond sad the anger in all of these posts. Enjoy and get a life! Peace out!

      6
      2
  10. Kay just look at the remarks on here and that should be enough of a clue of how fractured people are. Not because of our current administration but because its society today. And it ain’t good!

Do people think the prior administration did a stellar job? Or the administration before that and before that? It has been a slow degradation of morals and respect and proper processes for years and years.

I think the current President has an ego the size of Texas but he has been the human piñata for fixing what has been broken for years. I respect him for trying to right the ship. Praying it doesnt get us in a war but things are long over due.

Do things the right way to begin with and there are no issues but putting blinders on for any topic or reason will bite you down the road.

    5
    3
  11. Oh the hypocrisy of the American loving patriots in the comments that disagree with students exercising their First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution rights that protects their freedom of speech, peaceable assembly, and to petition the government, which form the legal basis for protests. Peaceful demonstrations, picketing, leafleting, and parades in traditional public forums are protected. And an AMERICAN right afforded to all these students. But continue on with your emotional tantrums about how the kids are taking a stand on what is important to their lives and what affects them now, while you talk big and bad behind your keyboards and cell phones.

    10

  12. I am a hard working, combat veteran, white conservative that doesn’t suck or take dick up my ass. Anything else I can do to piss you libtards off?

    8
    5
    1. Anyone that has to publicly announce this, has at one point in their life done such things. Guess your not just a combat vet after all.

  13. By lefties logic, I should be able to sneak into any concert I wish and enjoy the entertainment for free, but also to whine and claim its my right to be there when security finds me with no ticket and kicks me out.

    3
    3
      1. Please explain to me how concert venues across the country continue to stay in business. Their bills aren’t paid off of unicorn farts.

  14. Kusd has become a complete joke. I was a student that graduated from Indian Trail High School school in 2021. Stop having our tax payer dollars going to SJW garbage and actually teach our kids the curriculum of the facts. For anyone that compares these ice facilities to concentration camps needs to stop listening to Rachel Maddow and Don Lennon. We see ICE agents arrest thousands of Sex traffickers and drug dealers day after day. Do we ever see ICE get credit for the duty that they do? Nope. Do we ever see the people that protest against all the death from the cartels that has caused 100 thousand deaths? Nope. Do we ever see these people or KUSD about the many deaths such as Laken Riley or Rachel Morin or Jocelyn Nongauary? Nope. Do we ever see the protests of all the sex trafficking that has been going on throughout the years that actually led to over 300k kids go missing on the southern border. Let kids go back to thier class. Let’s alo be honest here, we all know why they wanted to do the walkout. It was becasue they wanted to get out of class. End of story. Be better KUSD.

    10
    6
    1. Have you even seen the statistics upon what crimes the detainees have done? Only a small percent has been doing some sort of crime, please get a life. Y’all would pardon a felon for president but you guys can’t give a chance to immigrants. Immigrants have made this country, you guys just deny it completely.

      4
      2
      1. Lol. Hey so that isn’t how our justice system works. The 34 felonies were highly political in new york. And 2. Those haven’t even been looked at by the Appalete courts yet.

      2. Statistics are something that we can now find different on every source you search on. Fox says this number, CNN says this, MSNBC says this and the government tells us yet another.

Unless I am there in person to witness or count or see with my eyes, Im guarded about truths in today’s world.

My neighbor is a teacher and during the COVID crap fest, she told me the hospital near our home was packed with patients in hallways and rooms were overloaded. She said that they were all discussing. I assumed she meant other teachers on the phone. I happen to know the person who basically runs that hospital and I inquired. He looked at me and said that wasn’t true at all. Yes, nursing was extremely busy but that it wasn’t as she was saying.

Who was telling the truth? Was it her or him and I’ll never know. Point is we cant look at the TV or cell phone and allow that to take over our minds.

Immigrants made this country is a rabbit hole for which a verbal exchange will go on forever. Yes, many immigrant came to this country and were proud to go to whatever extreme to become a US citizen. That thought process stopped a long long time ago. We have been infiltrated with a decay in society where the thought of coming to US and working hard to become a citizen is gone. Its all about making money however way possible. I had an employee who’s kid moved from Waukegan IL to Kenosha Wi because the free benefits were better. She told me that they dont want to work.

So although you apparently dislike what the current administration is doing, it needs to be done.

        2
        1
  15. To this day, Obama holds the record for the most deportations.

Obama removed 1.6 million undocumented immigrants in his first term and 1.5 million in his second term. Trump had 1.2 million illegal immigrants deported during his first term.

    2
    1
    1. So you admit Obama was a better leader for our country than Trump? And he did it without infringing on American citizens’ rights. Yeah, he was definitely better.

      1
      3
  16. Let’s compare, shall we? Then, let’s question the WHY of the difference in reactions.

Where were you libtards when Obama had ICE deporting over 5 million Illegal Aliens…

And oh yeah,, When Obama gave an award to Tom Holmans part in doing so?

  17. Maybe I’m a cynic, but these so-called walk out or protests are just a reason for the little heathens to skip class and not learn anything, if they were learning anything to begin with. Waste of taxpayers money and resources. And besides, did the protest solve anything, anything at all, or just added to the chaos and aroused more negative emotions than necessary.

Steil Introduces Bills Targeting Congressional Betting and Expanding Voter ID Requirements
