KENOSHA, Wis. — Are you a conservative? A moderate liberal? Someone who prefers to buy books without being subjected to political litmus tests? If so, critics say your business is not wanted or welcome at Blue House Books in downtown Kenosha — a message they argue was made unmistakably clear by a Facebook post published by the store’s owner yesterday.
The post, authored by Samantha Jacquest-Zura, the owner of Blue House Books, announced the store’s participation in an “economic blackout,” stated the business did not expect to sell a single book, encouraged customers to use cash, and concluded with a blunt, profane political statement aimed at Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The message was signed, “Sam, owner of Blue House Books,” and was posted publicly to the store’s Facebook page .
In the statement, Jacquest-Zura wrote that Blue House Books would remain open as “a place of peace” for those who “need it,” inviting people to stop in to rest, reflect, and breathe. At the same time, she used the business’s public platform to advance a highly charged political message, a move that quickly drew both praise and backlash online.
Support for the post came swiftly from a number of prominent and recognizable Kenosha-area figures, many of whom hold or previously held public-facing roles in government, education, or politics. Those publicly supporting or engaging with the post on Facebook include:

The latest post is not an isolated incident. In a 2022 Kenosha County Eye article, Jacquest-Zura openly told critics of children’s drag queen story time events not to shop at her store if they disagreed with her views. That article documented her decision to host drag queen story time for children and quoted her dismissing opponents as “close-minded,” while making clear she was “perfectly happy” without their patronage.
Critics say the pattern is consistent and unmistakable: Blue House Books is not merely a bookstore whose owner holds political opinions, but a business repeatedly used as a platform for progressive activism — one that openly signals ideological boundaries and discourages patronage from conservatives, moderates, and others who do not share those views. Supporters of the post, meanwhile, praised the message as an unapologetic expression of values, even as it sharpened the store’s political divide within the Kenosha community.

Very notable the clear majority on the list are female, whom undoubtedly, if married, “run” their husbands or if lesbian, as the dominator, their mates. Regarding KPD – fully expected; they report to the local political leaders. Only under accelerated civil disintegration do individual partisan and interpersonal loyalties surpass professional institutional fidelity as motivation to act against one’s individual interests in their pension accruals.

I don’t agree with all her beliefs but I am proud of her for standing up for what she believes in. It may or may not cost her some sales just as Hobby Lobby and Chick-Fil-A loose sales by not being open on Sundays but they are all running their business on their own beliefs. Proud of her for what? So lets get this straight, the purpose of Fridays activity was to disrupt business by being closed or not showing up for work out spending money at places that were open. Well she stayed open, used it as a ploy to get people to come in to her business and said bring cash if you want to buy something and supported a coffee shop who also stayed open. But she played it off as if you pay cash, it’s okay. So even for one day her conviction wasn’t enough to stop her from buying her coffee or keeping her shop open to make money. Yeah I can see how you can be proud of that. It took a lot. Be better and save being proud of people who actually accomplish something other than hate disguised as an movement.

Another empty storefront coming soon in downtown Kenosha caused by liberal lunacy. The businesses that never reopened after the riots were the first wave. The second wave we are seeing now, with longtime businesses closing or moving elsewhere. The third wave is coming. Buildings that were purchased to revitalize the downtown area, like the theater are struggling. The theater building was remodeled to build out flex space on the second floor is empty of businesses. They have also lost their first floor tenants and is now up for sale. A building purchased for $1.4 million, which the owner invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to remodel is now for sale for $850k. The Hotel is mostly empty and struggling. The vault, a remodeled bank was used for events and weddings has also closed. Madrigrano wants to develop the Eagles Club into housing, but it is clear that even if there is demand for more housing on the lake, the people who live there have no reason to shop in their neighborhood. Why should they? The area is a desert, devoid of anything one actually needs. Taverns and bar food restaurants will continue to cycle through the usual spaces, but the reality doesn’t change. Sadly the downtown area has become a revolving door for businesses that have no choice but to move elsewhere if they want to be successful. This bookstore can’t afford advertising, so as a last ditch effort they use political talking points to generate support from their lunatic fringe to cash in a few bucks before blaming Trump, society, and intolerance for their failure.
It’s too bad that the FOX “NEWS” idiots are alive and well.
