KENOSHA, Wis. — A student at Indian Trail High School & Academy was taken into custody Monday after Kenosha police received a tip that a gun had been found in the student’s home earlier in the day, according to a message sent to families by Principal Mr. Kennow.
The notification was sent to families after school, around 5 p.m., informing them that law enforcement had recovered the weapon from the residence and detained the student outside of school.
School officials acknowledged it is possible the student may have briefly had the weapon in their possession while at school earlier in the day, although that has not been confirmed.
“At no time were threats made toward our students, staff or our school community, and there was no indication of intent to cause harm,” Kennow wrote in the message.
The district reiterated that weapons of any kind are prohibited on school grounds and that any weapon found in a student’s possession will be confiscated, with law enforcement contacted to ensure safety.
Officials credited the individual who reported the concern and thanked Kenosha police for their quick response. Families were reminded to use the state’s anonymous reporting system, Speak Up, Speak Out, to report safety concerns.
The incident comes amid heightened concern in Kenosha County over firearms involving young people. In recent months, multiple local cases have involved juveniles or young adults found in possession of guns, in some instances while already facing other charges. Those cases have fueled ongoing debate about school safety, accountability and whether enough is being done to prevent weapons from reaching minors.
While school officials emphasized there was no indication of a planned threat in this case, the possibility that a firearm may have been inside a school building — even briefly — is likely to intensify community conversations about security measures and prevention efforts.
No additional details about potential charges or the student’s age were released Monday. Kenosha police have not yet issued a public statement expanding on the circumstances surrounding the tip or the recovery of the weapon.
Indian Trail families with questions were directed to contact the school at 262-359-8700.

It’s only going to get worse. I just was in the county jail and those yong fellas are dead inside. Most are on a buch of psyc meds. Their behavior like none I’ve ever seen before.
Most of this stems from the war on a family(husband/wife) that the left set out to destroy decades ago.
However, a LOT of this also is infected by the horrendous public school(union teachers) school system. With the disgusting Obama dynasty calling for the total elimination of anyone in authority, EXCEPT of course the Obama’s, is coming home to roast. Disregard anyone in law enforcement is having massive effects and the liberals/democrats/socialists/communists are to blame.
I don’t get it…
They found a gun in his house so they detained him at school? Doesn’t make any sense.
Well he’s not legally allowed to have it so kinda makes perfect sense. Keep up
Where does it say it belonged to him?
Your ignorance is astounding, It can’t legally belong to him. But I’m sure he is a good boy(with a gun under his mattress ) and will not do it again. 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
Skittles college yada yada
The left continues to go after LEGAL owners of firearms every minute of the day. Yet, have no issue with anyone who has no LEGAL right of owning of firearm. It’s seriously mind-numbing.
And with the extremely radical liberal Wisconsin Supreme Court, CCW will most be “ruled” illegal in the next couple of years. God help us. BTW, anyone have the United Van Lines moving companies phone number handy?
Funny they send the message after school is out! VOTE tomorrow for NEW school board members!
All entrances need metal detectors in all our schools! They are just waiting for a mass shooting before they do something about these punks bringing guns to school!
I believe that was in the last referendum that everyone voted no to
Wrong. Learn what it was
3rd in a week. Way to go parents! Losers
At least kusd showed their support when they allowed them to walk out, ya know the important things…….
How did kusd support a walk out? Kids were marked tardy or truant accordingly and staff aren’t allowed to participate nor tell opinions. Should teachers have blocked exits and forced them to stay which is actually illegal?
I heard parents were allowed to call in so the students’ absence during the walkout was excused. That is supportive by the system.
Sounds like you mean supported by the parent then. Parents can call in for whatever reason, whenever.
No, the school allowed the walk out and encouraged it. Get your facts straight libtard.
Then why did the school send out a voicemail explaining to parents to call your kid in for no consequences? I’ll tell you why, they wanted the absences excused.
Irresponsible gun owners who allow their kids access to guns then the kids does this needs to be charged – PERIOD! They obviously are not educating their children about gun safety.
If the child is obtaining the firearm illegally the parent needs to be charged for neglect because they are not aware/monitoring what their kid is up to/doing.
Remember, there are people selling guns to felons, berg and the Kids selling guns to each other and one ended up dead. The law abiding gun owners aren’t the problem.
This ^
You’re right. Law abiding gun owners are not the problem.
I believe Rittenhouse acted in self defense. I also believe that whoever provided him a gun that day made the world more dangerous and broke the law in spirit. (I understand the hunting laws of Wisconsin may actually mean that the AR15 type rifle he had is allowed for minors and technicalities matter in law, but you understand my point even if you fly Team Kyle flags.)
Most guns used in school shootings come from shitty gun owners not making them accessible to their household.
Not making the inaccessible
Most school shootings are now caused my mentally ill trannys.
Go vote today,Bob tierney Juliana
the police and the courts need to make an example of these people so it stops happening!
What’s the end game?
I vote for segregation!
