KENOSHA, Wis. — A 17-year-old Kenosha student is accused of being in possession of a stolen 9mm handgun immediately after returning home from Indian Trail High School & Academy. He was charged Tuesday and given a $5,000 cash bail by Supplemental Court Commissioner Michael Masnica, continuing what critics describe as Kenosha County Circuit Court’s longstanding pattern of going soft on kids who possess guns.

Authorities have said it is possible that he brought the gun to school and that he had it before he came home early from school.
A mugshot was not available at publication time, but will be added later.
Giovanni Jaden Nebren, 17, of Kenosha, is charged with possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent, possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18, and two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping . He is due back in court on February 24 for a preliminary hearing.
According to the criminal complaint, Nebren left his home the morning of February 16 to attend Indian Trail but later returned acting paranoid and telling his mother he had robbed a friend in Illinois. When confronted, he lifted his shirt, and she observed what appeared to be a pistol grip protruding from his waistband .
After he left the apartment again, his mother searched his bedroom closet and found a black Glock 17 9mm handgun with a loaded magazine inside a shoebox . Police recovered the firearm, which was confirmed stolen out of Roselle, Illinois in early January.

The defendant’s mother, Amanda Nebren, who found the gun, told KCE her son wasn’t in possession of a gun at school because “he wasn’t charged with possessing a gun at school.”
The complaint notes that Nebren has a prior juvenile adjudication for aggravated battery to a pregnant person in Illinois — an offense that would be a felony if committed by an adult — which legally bars him from possessing a firearm . He was also already out on a $500 signature bond in a Racine County misdemeanor case for obstructing an officer at the time of this incident . A standard condition of that bond was that he commit no new crimes.
The most serious charge, possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent, is a Class G felony carrying up to 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine . Each misdemeanor bail jumping count carries up to nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine . In total, Nebren faces more than 11 years in prison and over $55,000 in potential fines if convicted.
School officials initially notified families that police had received a tip about a gun connected to a student and that the weapon was recovered from the student’s home. Officials said there was no confirmed threat made at school and no indication of intent to harm anyone.
Still, the case adds to a troubling pattern in Kenosha County involving juveniles and firearms. In recent months, multiple local cases have involved young offenders found with guns — sometimes while already out on bail — raising ongoing concerns among parents and residents about school safety and repeat offenders.
Nebren remains charged as an adult in Kenosha County Circuit Court. He will return to court February 24 for a preliminary hearing.
Editor’s Note: Authorities have not alleged that Nebren definitively brought the firearm onto school grounds. The criminal complaint states he left for school that morning before later returning home, and the firearm was recovered from his residence. His mother saw the gun in his waistband immediately after returning from school.

Jesus Christ. And he’s back on bail? Wtf
Avoid Kenosha and KUSD—-Way too risky.
So, go cower somewhere then.
Hey mom I just Robbed someone, look at my gun, leaves apartment. wtf is going on with parents and kids. Dumbass judges!
Release the Solis files!
Calm down caputo, there are kids with guns at school. Troll
😮 17 year old ‘student’ off hitting licks for an extracurricular. 👏
We need NEW judges!
One I am the one who called as his mother. Second that’s not how it happened these facts are wrong.
Yet you’re defending him. Way to go mom!!!! He has a history, had a gun yet here you are
It’s funny how people try to do the right thing but yet they get attacked. Wonder why people don’t do the right thing anymore. No one is defending my son I am trying to get the facts right. If I was defending my son would I have my own child locked up? No I wouldn’t have said anything. But the lies and the mis information then want to attack me and have my information out . What if he did take it to school and use it? I stopped that and put my own child behind bars. Where is the system that keeps failing him? Over and over again? When I pleaded for help with his mental health attack them. As I did what I thought was best.so thank you for putting my information out there and also not reporting facts of what actually happened. Then attacking me and putting my family in danger as I was trying to protect everyone else’s family.
Was it a mental health attack when he beat a pregnant woman in IL?
Mental health is the new scapegoat for crimes now. Beat a pregnant women, was currently out on a signature bond from a crime in Racine and robbed someone in Illinois, but it’s mental health?
From a friend of the family. He hit his mother while pregnant. She has tried over and over with him. She doesn’t have to plead her case with anyone. It definitely was a mental health issue as she had sass come over the night before “he wasn’t a harm to his self” they could not take him. At 15 they can not force him to go to counseling, take medicine or go inpatient to get help due to him being able to consent. His father passed away so she didn’t have help. I see a mother who just saved someone else kids life.
For what it’s worth, thank you for reporting your son. He is definitely going down the wrong path in life and at 17 these mistakes will be on his permanent adult record.
Now you can reflect on life and ask yourself, would my son have been better off in life with a dad at home?
As a friend of the family his father passed away from health issue when he was a baby. This makes me sad as a parent that other parents who wouldn’t do the same thing if their kid went down the wrong path. Have A LOT TO SAY! If something would have happened to someone else’s kid she would still get talked to the same way!!!!
Again. You point blame and make excuses. 17, robbed someone for a gun, and was already out on bail. Quit supporting losers and making excuses
The system? YOU ARE HIS SYSTEM IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!! YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER AS A PARENT AND MOTHER. YOU ARE TO BLAME, time to be an adult and realize how bad you suck and should have never had kids.
The strength of a nation derives from the integrity of the home.
So the police documents are wrong. Proud mom
If this is the documents then he needs to post my statement I made against my own child. This is not in ste statement at all. On what actually happened
You’re trying to go to war against the court of public opinion. Let me know how that works out for you..
Your son has charges at 17 and you’re here defending him? You are the problem
Admitted to robbing someone as a student and here you are? This is why parents should be charged
Omg. This isn’t real life!! You piece of shit parent!! Admit he robbed someone and defending him. Fucken loser
You are a slutbag POS. Go date some more hood fucks.
Can you kindly put your name in the comments so we can nominate you for mother of the year.
Nice eye socket chain mail.
Neck tat explains it all.
The usual suspects.
Take her to jail!!! What a POS parent!
In the photo, the guy looks old enough to be her father. Perhaps Daddy issues growing up?? Put your kid first before any relationship and maybe, just maybe he would stay out of trouble if you gave him more attention than the old guy!!
She is a fat white bitch. All she can snag is loser black men that have no jobs and split the second they hear pregnant.
In this case, it appears that the defendant’s mother cooperated with the police and may have prevented a tragedy. I don’t think this is the proper time and place to debate her parenting skills. It does seem that she did try to get help in the past. She is not defending her son’s conduct but insisting on an accurate depiction and we should not fault her for that. My experience suggests that thing young man will spend much of his life in trouble with the law and incarcerated and deservedly so if he continues to be the threat he is now. That doesn’t stop this from being a tragedy. If I was a betting man I’d say there were probably failures of the juvenile justice and mental health systems along the way. If hope springs eternal, then maybe at some point he could turn his life around but that doesn’t seem likely now or in the near future. This isn’t just one kid like this — there are many.
Yes, unfortunately there are limited resources for mental health. Always has been an issue. Its tragic
You can’t breed 2 donkeys and end up with a racehorse…….
Great parenting allowing your kid to have all those trashy ass tattoos.
Dude looks 25!
Was dummy held back 7 years in a row?
You sound like you were held back for reading and compression. It states he is 17. Kids can look older then what they are.
LIB: “He was always such a good boy, you just don’t understand.”
As a family friend I doubt he robbed a friend giovanni is usually in illinois alot and is in a gang I bet he just didnt want to get charged for the stolen gun and tried to blame it on somebody else.
