KENOSHA, Wis. — Late Tuesday evening, Bullen Middle School officials received a tip through the Speak Up, Speak Out system regarding an alleged school shooting threat.
According to a message sent to families and staff at 9:48 p.m., school administrators immediately launched an investigation in coordination with the Kenosha Police Department.
In a statement to Kenosha County Eye, Kenosha Police confirmed officers spoke with the complainant and quickly determined the message was likely sent by an 11-year-old student at Bullen Middle School.
Police responded to the student’s residence, confirmed he had made the online threat, and arrested him for making terrorist threats. Officers conducted a search of the suspect and his home and did not locate any weapons. The parents were present on scene and were cooperative.
School officials stated the individual responsible has been identified and is in police custody, and that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.
Administrators emphasized that they do not believe students or staff are in danger. However, out of an abundance of caution and to help ease concerns, there will be a police presence at the school during student arrival Wednesday morning.
“Threats of any kind are taken seriously and investigated to the fullest extent, as was done tonight,” Principal Mr. St. Martin wrote in the message to families.
School officials also thanked the individual who reported the concern and encouraged families to speak with their children about the importance of reporting suspicious or concerning behavior. Reports can be made anonymously through the Speak Up, Speak Out system.
Families with additional questions were encouraged to contact the school office directly.

Email from Bullen said someone was arrested.
What irks me is they phrase, “we launched an investigation with KPD”…. All you did was report it to KPD.
That’s totally incorrect. School calls police but they also have valuable info on students and families. Get a clue!!
Yeah… like their address and parents name. Get a clue yourself
Parents remove your kids from the failing liberal inner city daycare centers scam KUSD before the next tragedy or lose a child. Sub par teachers, over paid do nothing administration constantly seeking pay raises. How many guns in school’s this week? Brilliant security measures for our tax dollars.
Love to see some investigative reporting on the window replacement scams the tax payers were subjected to. Hundreds of thousands to upgrade windows a few years ago then close or tear down the schools. e.g. McKinley & Washington. Where did these expensive windows go? Resized for someone’s houses? Sold? KUSD = Mega scam of taxpayers and edu.
Perfectly said! I’d also love to see Kevin do an investigative piece on the expensive windows that we paid for right before the schools were torn down. KUSD is a mess and there is no way I would send my dog there, let alone my child.
I agree .. who received the contracts for that work .. Kickbacks
Well, gee, I hope they don’t put the kids in the system you grew up in. Didn’t stick.
It started in the ’70s with paneling over school windows. When they turned to panel Reuther HS in 1985, public protests halted all that. Since then the windows are being restored. The former Washington JHS was the latest.
And it quit being a “Unified” school system in 1995.
KUSD needs to get rid of the bloat at the top. They can cut half of the staff at the ESC and put the money in the actual schools. This has been a problem for at least 15 years and it keeps getting worse. Weiss needs a pay cut too.
Unfortunately, the bloat will NEVER go away. Way too many morons who think cutting teachers/administrators somehow effects “the kids”. The media/unions have brainwashed the low-informational morons to think every dollar somehow goes to the kids and NOT the teachers/administrators pay/benefits.
Really sad so many people are soooo dumb when it comes to public schools.
With all of this happening in the Kenosha schools, my biggest question is… where are the parents?
I think the parents should be charged— students who think that these actions are appropriate are clearly being neglected.
When the so called pillars of society are news worthy when making threats with zero accountability JMO this is trickle down effect. Yes I understand there’s a lot more involved but the whole thing is upside down.
Bullen , isn’t that where the infamous Mark Truedell is a math teacher?
