Salem Lakes Man Charged With Felony Strangulation, False Imprisonment After Allegedly Choking Girlfriend Twice

SALEM LAKES, Wis. — John P. Canella, 50, of Trevor, was charged in Kenosha County Circuit Court on Tuesday with felony strangulation and suffocation and felony false imprisonment after authorities say he choked his girlfriend and prevented her from leaving his home. Court Commissioner William Michel II set $5,000 cash bail. Canella is due back in court March 3 for a preliminary hearing.
