CLINTON, Wis. — Former State Representative Ellen Schutt announced Thursday that she has secured the endorsement of State Senator Van Wanggaard as she continues her campaign for the Wisconsin State Senate.
Wanggaard, who previously represented communities in Racine and Kenosha counties that are now included in the district Schutt is seeking to represent, said Schutt would be a strong addition to the Legislature and an advocate for public safety.
“Ellen will be a great addition to the Senate,” Wanggaard said. “Over the past several years, I have come to know Ellen on both a personal and professional level and can assure you she will represent everyone in the district well.”
Before entering politics, Wanggaard spent nearly three decades working in law enforcement with the Racine Police Department. During his time in the State Senate, he has pushed policies aimed at supporting law enforcement and strengthening public safety throughout Wisconsin.
Schutt said the endorsement reflects shared priorities on public safety and community stability.
“As a mom, I think every day about the kind of communities we’re creating for our kids to grow up in,” Schutt said. “Parents deserve to know their children are safe at school and in their neighborhoods. Senator Wanggaard has spent decades protecting Wisconsin communities as a law enforcement officer and in the State Senate. I’m grateful for his support.”
The endorsement adds to Schutt’s growing list of supporters. According to the campaign, Tyler August has also endorsed Schutt, signaling backing from several conservative leaders in southeastern Wisconsin.
Schutt previously served as a state representative and is now seeking election to the State Senate seat that includes parts of Racine and Kenosha counties.

Ellen’s got my Vote.
Yeah he’s a piece of work. A loser in my terms. His word dont mean shit. He’s a lier!!!!
If you spelled LIAR correctly your argument might have a bit more value.
Wangaard is a dirtbag who doesn’t give a shit about his constituents.
Ellen is a strong Mom who cares about Wisconsin families and will do a great job.
Tyler August is a political tool. Decent enough guy to talk to, but has spent too much time under Vos’ desk to be taken seriously.
Vote Ellen.
When our longest serving in most conservative elected officials endorse this candidate… It makes for an easy choice.
Ellens husband works for the longest serving conservative OF COURSE he is going to endorse her.
