PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. — A prominent local businessman and real estate broker was arrested early Saturday morning in Pleasant Prairie after police responded to a domestic violence call at a residence in the village.

Michael Richard Zacker, 56, of Pleasant Prairie
(Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office)

Michael Richard Zacker, 56, of Pleasant Prairie, is the owner and broker of Cove Realty, a Kenosha-area real estate company. Cove Realty has been associated with several local real estate agents, including Kenosha County Sheriff David Zoerner, who has worked as a Realtor.

According to police radio traffic, officers were dispatched to a home in the 12100 block of 37th Avenue shortly after midnight for a reported domestic violence incident. Dispatchers told officers that a 45-year-old woman called 911 and described a “violent boyfriend in the home” before she stopped answering questions.

While dispatchers were still on the line, they could reportedly hear a man in the background saying he could not believe police had been called and that officers were coming.

The man later got on the phone and identified himself as Michael Zacker. He reportedly told dispatchers that the woman had come home intoxicated, was banging on the door, and was crying on the floor. However, dispatchers also reported that the woman could be heard in the background saying that he hit her.

Pleasant Prairie police officers and a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper responded to the residence. Radio traffic later indicated that officers made contact with the woman and that Zacker had been taken into custody.

Jail records show Zacker was booked into the Kenosha County Jail at 1:52 a.m. Saturday and released less than two hours later at 3:54 a.m.

The jail log listed two misdemeanor domestic abuse-related counts — battery, and disorderly conduct — and showed that Zacker posted a total of $650 bail.

Formal charges had not yet appeared in online court records as of Saturday morning, but if charges are filed, they will likely appear in the coming weeks.

Zacker is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
