KENOSHA, Wis. — The Kenosha Hometown Heroes Commission is once again seeking nominations for local veterans to be recognized during the second quarter of 2026.
The program honors men and women who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces and who have a connection to the City of Kenosha. Eligible nominees must have been born in Kenosha, currently live in the city, or have lived in the city for at least 10 years at some point in their lives.
According to the city, the commission reviews nominations based on a veteran’s military service, including decorations, awards, specialty schools, tours of duty and length of service. Community service, volunteer work, civic involvement and other accomplishments are also considered.
Only one nomination may be submitted by each nominator per quarter. The commission selects one recipient every quarter, with the winner receiving a certificate from the mayor. Each quarterly winner is also considered for the annual Kenosha Hometown Hero of the Year award.
The nomination period for the second quarter is now open. Nominations must be submitted by May 29, 2026.
Nomination forms are available by calling 262-653-4000 or by visiting the City of Kenosha’s website.
