KENOSHA, Wis. — Kenosha County Clerk Regi Waligora is warning candidates for local office that a recent change in Wisconsin law could cause some nomination papers to be rejected if they are circulated by people who do not live in the state.
The warning comes as the petition-circulating period for fall partisan elections begins Wednesday.
Under Act 126, signed into law last month, anyone circulating nomination papers for offices other than president must now be a qualified Wisconsin elector. Previously, out-of-state residents could circulate papers if they otherwise would have been eligible to vote in Wisconsin had they lived here.
Waligora said the change means circulators must now be Wisconsin residents for voting purposes, and she wants candidates and political parties to be aware of the new rule before signatures start being collected.
She said papers circulated by out-of-state residents could be disqualified.
To be eligible to vote in Wisconsin, a person must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, have lived at a Wisconsin address for at least 28 days, and not currently be serving a felony sentence, including incarceration, probation, parole, or extended supervision.
The new law also applies to recall petition circulators.
Waligora said updated nomination paper forms reflecting the new residency requirement are now available through the county clerk’s office website.
Offices up for election in Kenosha County this fall include clerk of courts and sheriff. The partisan primary is scheduled for Aug. 11, and the general election will be held Nov. 3. Nomination papers must be filed by June 1.

Bull. You dont need to be a citizen to vote here. All you need is an address and an electric bill, which gives illegals an ID….and all you need is an ID to vote. Its all fake and gay.
I guess this is a good thing but 28 days isn’t a lot.
Any organized group could rent an apartment or house short term and get a handful of people to move in for 60 days. After the 28 days though they would be required to change the address on their ID. That would be part of meeting the requirement to be residents for voting purposes. Whether it’s a drivers license or just a state ID.

It doesnt matter. This country is done. Its all fake and gay.
