KENOSHA, Wis. — A Kenosha father whose three young children died in a horrific Thanksgiving night apartment fire last November has now been charged with three felony counts of neglecting a child causing death after investigators concluded he failed to protect the children and left them trapped inside the burning home. Joshua P. Kannin, 39, was charged Tuesday in Kenosha County Circuit Court in the deaths of Alena Ellen Kannin, 7, Connor Liam Kannin, 9, and Rylee Levi Kannin, 10. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a $100,000 fine, meaning Kannin faces up to 75 years in prison and $300,000 in fines if convicted on all charges.

That’s bs
What’s BS?
Whats bullshit is he let them babies die!
It’s BS that he couldn’t have gotten life instead. And don’t start clapping me like I’m saying it’s BS that he went to prison—that’s not what I meant at all. I’m saying it’s BS that life wasn’t even on the table.”
Naw really
That’s justice well, it will be justice when he’s found guilty. The no good piece of c***
Every time I drive past that complex, nothing has been done to clean it up. It’s been left in the same condition for a long time and it’s honestly shameful. The building is just sitting there neglected and nothing has been done since it was left like that
Bc it had to be thoroughly investigated!
No mofos be going up in there. KPD ain’t doing shit but boarding it up
Ya, the KPD carpentry crew should be up there rebuilding it hahaha
You’re retarded.
Y’all keep twisting what I said. I never once said KPD should rebuild it. I said it’s been left sitting there for a long time. Investigation is one thing
you know we can see what you wrote right above this?
“I never once said KPD should rebuild it”
“KPD ain’t doing shit but boarding it up”
That’s incorrect. That’s because they had to wait for insurance to pay out so they can get it fixed. They have till may twelfth I should know I used to be the property manager there.
Excellent
I believe the apartment complex he was living in (at the time of the fire) filed two eviction notices then failed to show for court. I find that interesting, I can’t put my finger on why exactly.
Also, how did the man know where the fire was but then it was possibly the boys cooking; so was he even home? Was he is a sober enough state to care for the kids? Has the bank, other cameras been unable to provide video footage of the fire progression/his movements? Not my job, just hope justice is found… it’s so sad and I will keep the family in my prayers.
There are other things so, I hope Crime Junkies Podcasts covers this, I’ve suggested the case at least once.
I hope Crime Junkie doesn’t. Bunch of plagiarizing bitches. Sword and Scale should pick it up.
Most stories don’t get to me. This one did. Very heartbreaking.
They might have had to leave it that way due to the ongoing investigation
That is incorrect, they are gonna fix it.They just had to wait for insurance to pay out
They can start fixing it and insurance will reimburse. Slum lords prefer to not do this- they really don’t care about other tenants.
I knew it was him 🙁
I think we all knew. Unfortunately monsters live among us.
Junkie should have just taken his own life.
Sad
How many times have we seen men taking the life of their partner or children or both? I am not sure what’s wrong with men’s minds. It’s like God made a mistake when he created them.
Multitudes of women across the country abort their children every day. Cool your jets.
You mean murder their (actually God’s) children.
Why are you splitting hairs when I’m essentially agreeing with you?
God doesn’t make mistakes, but nice try. 😘
Unless you count the built-in excuse of free will. God has a very bad record of interceding with people about to die because of something stupid.
Bout damn time!!!
Poor babies… justice well be served for those 3 little angels
Always has to be someone to blame.
Let’s no exonerate the woman. Maybe if she wasn’t such a mental head case she would have not lost custody of these children to be put in this position.
Both of these parents failed these kids.
Valid
Oh? I imagine this is based on you reading their custody agreement?
I base this on the fact that only the shittiest of mothers doesn’t have custody of their children. IYKYK.
Primary placement with the father but she still had custody. They were with her that morning.
She didn’t leave them in a burning apartment, he did. She didn’t remove the smoke detectors, he did. She didn’t lie about circumstances that night, he did. Instead of blaming the victim turn the venom toward the pos gutless bitch sperm donor that caused their death first hand.
So sad that he allowed his baby s to be killed. This Dad really needs eye for eye.
I would’ve died in that house also if my children were in there. Nothing could’ve kept me out of those flames. I wouldn’t have been running the other way. The fact that he wasn’t trying to get to them himself is unbelievable. He is either the biggest coward alive or he did it. Either way, I hate this guy.
Preach
It’s Kenosha, he will get a few years probation and a slap on the hand.
Hes white…so he’ll get the max
Dumbass
Nothing about the father’s story makes sense. I hate our surveillance-heavy world but there should be some video records to help construct a fact based timeline of the disaster.
Thanks for following up KCE, I’ve wondered what came after the original story.
Bless those poor children.
Because he lied. More info will come out soon, many things haven’t been released to the public yet.
Knowing the system, KUSD will probably hire him as a custodian after he does 25 years in prison
Naw, he could help run Gateway, starting tomorrow.
