KENOSHA, Wis. — A 35-year-old Kenosha man with a violent felony history allegedly opened fire on police Monday evening, setting off a massive, hours-long standoff that drew dozens of officers, armored vehicles, and a multi-agency response before ending with the suspect suffering multiple self-inflicted gunshot wounds and being flown out by helicopter. It is unknown if Casas is alive.
Police were initially dispatched to a minor domestic incident at a residence at 4909 14th Avenue, but the call quickly escalated when Andres Casas, 35, of Kenosha, allegedly fired shots toward responding officers.

It is a perplexing problem. We know that around 5% of the population commits almost all of the crimes, yet the court system seems determined to make sure that 5% can spend as much time as possible out of jail. In the state that doesn’t have capital punishment, all we have to protect ourselves with is jails.

It is strange that we actually pay most of the people you described to live here. I guess it’s a valuable commodity that we were missing. I had to pay for my own rent, food, transportation, and medical expenses on my own.
I’m really grateful we moved. I know people like to say these issues exist everywhere, but our experience has been so different. My kids are in safe schools, and I feel a sense of security just doing everyday things like driving down the road.
Most are originally from Illinois. Welfare is higher here, Cost of living is lower here and they are fleeing the law in Illinois. Also the judges in Kenosha let them off the hook
