KENOSHA, Wis. — Music fans will have no shortage of entertainment options this summer as the City of Kenosha announced the return of both its popular Peanut Butter & Jam concert series and the Tuesdays at the Shell concert series, offering free live performances throughout July and August.
The Peanut Butter & Jam series will celebrate its 23rd season beginning July 9 at Veterans Memorial Park and Navy Memorial Park along Kenosha’s lakefront. Presented by the City of Kenosha and Happenings Magazine, the weekly concerts will feature daytime solo, duo and trio performances beginning at 11:30 a.m. and full-band performances starting at 6 p.m.
The season opens with “Icons of Country,” a tribute show featuring the music of Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert. Other evening headliners scheduled throughout the summer include R-Gang, The Judson Brown Band, Infinity, Fill Jackson, 7th Heaven, Mr. Myers and Cheap Foreign Cars.
City officials said concertgoers are welcome to enjoy the performances from either Veterans Memorial Park or nearby Navy Memorial Park. To accommodate the crowds, Sixth Avenue will be closed between 52nd Street and 54th Street during evening concerts. Attendees are also being reminded to stay clear of streetcar tracks, use designated crosswalks and remain alert for buses traveling through the area.
Meanwhile, the Tuesdays at the Shell concert series will return to the Pennoyer Park bandshell beginning July 7. The free concerts will be held every Tuesday at 6 p.m. through Sept. 1 and are presented by Musicians Assisting Advancing Music, the City of Kenosha and Happenings Magazine. Food and soft drinks will be available for purchase at each event.
This year’s Tuesdays at the Shell lineup includes Lunde, The Roundabouts, Otis, Indigo Canyon, Good Ol’ Boys, Ash Can School, Yesterday’s Children, Sean McKee Band and Boys and Toys.
