Love to hear this. Keep improving down there. It’s slowly getting better every year
That’s great and all but Kenosha is more then Downtown what’s going on with Uptown and surrounding areas or is that area to urban for you to also pour into. Just a tax paying citizen wondering!
The uptown improvements were a complete waste. The people that live there dont take care of anything. Also the slum lords that have houses in that area need to be held accountable.
I’ve driven by and its actually better than it has been in many years the homes are a little old and might need some TLC but to say it was a complete waste is not true. The problem is they do a little and then go put more into downtown for more Illinois residents yo come buy up the area and lets cater to the money but its expected from Kenosha. There are decent folks living in the uptown area that would also love to walk around and see Beautiful things but the city does just enough to say they did something in that area and then go back to the yuppies.
This is false. The city currently has two grant programs for businesses in the Uptown Area. https://www.kenosha.org/departments/city_development/community_development/uptown_grants.php. With these dollars, the city can help a new cafe, Cafe Bohemia, open on the corner of 23rd Ave and 56th Street.
There will also be a small grocery store and restaurant opening later this year in Uptown Lofts. Just because these things are not smacking you in the face doesn’t mean they are not happening.
Yup the cafe so because of the school so really its more for that to appease for the Tech school. Well they should be smacking the folks in that area in the face the same way all the new business and updates are smacking the downtown folks in their faces. In the downtown area the city is very prompt.
Taverns, trinket stores, and what’s that other business? Trans book store.
Extend Trolley to New Casino! Gamble out there and then head for Downtown!
