RANDALL, Wis. — The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office says a 23-year-old man died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after crashing a pickup truck into a home in the Town of Randall early Friday morning, providing new details about a fatal incident that initially prompted a large emergency response.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at 2:38 a.m. Friday to a report of a truck that had crashed into a residence in the 39400 block of 104th Street. Investigators determined a white 2018 Ford F-250 was traveling north at a high rate of speed on 395th Avenue when it left the roadway and struck the home.

The homeowner told deputies the driver got out of the truck after the crash and asked whether anyone inside the residence had been injured. The driver then returned to the pickup truck and sustained an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The 23-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death. His identity has not yet been released.
The update resolves several questions that arose during the initial response. Early radio traffic indicated the driver may have fled after the crash, and deputies later reported finding a blood trail. A witness also told authorities the driver had crawled back to the truck before deputies located him unresponsive inside the vehicle.

The crash caused extensive damage to the residence. Twin Lakes Fire/Rescue previously reported the pickup truck penetrated approximately 10 feet into the home. Because of the structural damage, the Kenosha County Specialized Response Team was called to stabilize the building. Firefighters also addressed reports of a possible gas leak and exposed electrical wires. The occupants of the home safely evacuated and were not injured.
The Kenosha County Major Crash Assistance Team is assisting with the investigation. The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains active and no further information is being released at this time.
