MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The family of a 73-year-old Kenosha nursing home resident has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against The Bay at Waters Edge Health and Rehabilitation and its operator, Champion Care, LLC, alleging systemic failures, chronic understaffing, negligent supervision, deceptive advertising, and corporate misconduct led to the death of Dennis R. Newman following an alleged assault by a certified nursing assistant.

(Kenosha County Sheriff's Office)
The 22-page lawsuit, filed July 10 in Milwaukee County Circuit Court by attorney Kevin Demet on behalf of Newman's estate and his widow, Julie Newman, seeks compensatory damages, punitive damages, wrongful death damages, attorney's fees, and other relief. The complaint alleges Waters Edge failed to protect Newman despite warning signs throughout the day, misrepresented the incident to hospital staff, failed to properly care for him after the incident, and ultimately caused injuries that substantially contributed to his death on Oct. 10, 2025.

Another botched case by Solis and staff
Guess you missed the part where neglect, abuse and being short staffed has gone on years before he even took office, why was this facility still even open?
https://kenoshacountyeye.com/2026/01/21/kenosha-cna-case-tossed-mid-trial-after-judge-finds-state-failed-to-prove-victims-age/
as you can see the prosecution dropped the ball, now apologize to the person above you because you missed the part where they said “Another botched case by Solis and staff”
I will apologize to nobody, apologize to yourself for being ignorant.
wow that’s gold, coming from the idiot who ignores proof in front of him. This case was literally tossed due to the prosecution not proving the age of the elderly man to prove abuse on an elder.
Go shove your head in the dirt some more you ignorant doofus.
I will and think of you💋
HAHA right in the article, prosecution error
that idiot won’t apologize, it takes a real man to admit when he’s wrong, this guy will just keep spewing BS to try to make himself feel right, if you believe your lies it’s no longer lying…..
Please hire the CNA that caused the abuse to take care of you loved ones. After SHE abuses your family blame Solis and not yourself for hiring her. ❤️
This place was terrible long before Solis. This is a failure on the part of the state. Wisconsin should have shut this place down many, many years ago.
Exactly years before abuse and neglect, short staff, guess it was Solis fault for everything that happened 10 years ago too.. Comparing one case to plenty of incidents that never lead to closing the place down or charges being brought, be realistic here. The CNA who did this was not hired by Solis, was not monitored by Solis. I’m sure this is not first patient she abused either oh wait let’s blame Solis for that also 😂😂. Not the facility who hired her and staff that witnessed the abuse.
The case was dropped because of the prosecution screwing up.
But let’s place the blame elsewhere…….
Hire that CNA to take care of your loved one❤️.
The case was dropped because of the prosecution— but, it NEVER should have come to this, in the first place.
The circumstance should not have even, ever occurred.
It took this incident out of several to expose this place, why was anything not done before, why did new residents continue to go to this place, why weren’t cnas ever arrested, why wasn’t the facility ever investigated, all these people commenting it was horrible place to work at and people saying loved ones were mistreated, yet nothing ever happened and nobody got punished all these years??
yet none of that has to do with the original point that Solis screwed up the prosecution on this one.
#12345 is that you counting up to the amount of remaining brain cells you have?
So by your same logic I can’t blame you for being dumb, I’ll have to go back and blame the crackhead who stuck it in your mom and made you
I don’t want to spam this site, but we as a community need to ensure that when you Google Jahnix A. Medina, Jahnix Medina, or whatever her street name is, this comes to the top of the list. Justice must be served
“Case dismissed due to prosecutor’s error”——that Jahnix Medina?
Jumpsuit > Scrubs
Just another fat nurse like Donna..
Waters edge is and has always been mismanaged, it’s a revolving door of Administration/ Director of nurses. The CNAs run everything and answer to no one, no accountability and communication within that facility is non existent. Try calling there, you get bounced around and if they answer the phone, they hang up on you. Residents call 911 when they can’t get a CNA to answer their call light .
They are currently doing a huge remodel and intend to have a rehab wing. Don’t get me started on their Therapy setvices.
Not everyone fits to be a cna…
First of all, CNA’s do the dirty work many people do not want to do or even talk about. The hierarchy of CNA’s puts private caregivers at the top with hospitals in the middle and nursing homes at the bottom. There are a ton of good CNA’s out there who work their butts off. The pay really sucks as do the hours. The real problem is the amount of patients per CNA. Some have 15-20…..that’s like 4-5 minutes per hour. Is that realistic? Falls and bed sores do occur and they are not always the CNA’s fault. The company is making money somewhere and that needs to be addressed. If the CNA is neglectful or intentive in harming someone, prison is a must, but accidents do happen. Investigations must be done to determine what happened. We cannot become emotional because we see an injured elder, we must get to the truth on what occurred.
The eyelashes made her do it. …….yuck.
Think this constitutes burying the cna up to her head in the ground and throwing stones at her until her insides show.
Of course, I’d have to get that ok’d by kerkman first.
I was defendant’s attorney in the criminal trial. Judge Meier’s dismissal was consistent with the law.
