TWIN LAKES, Wis. — A bold overnight burglary at a popular Twin Lakes collectibles store resulted in more than $200,000 worth of merchandise being stolen early Monday morning, prompting an active investigation by the Twin Lakes Police Department as detectives search for those responsible.
According to a media release issued Monday, officers were dispatched to Goldenrod City Collectibles, 120 S. Lake Ave., at approximately 2 a.m. after receiving a report of a burglary. When officers arrived, they discovered that a significant amount of merchandise had been stolen from the business. Police estimate the value of the stolen property exceeds $200,000.
Investigators have not disclosed exactly how the suspects gained entry into the business or what specific items were taken, saying only that the investigation remains active and that additional investigative details will not be released at this time.
The Twin Lakes Police Department is reviewing surveillance footage from the surrounding area as investigators work to identify those responsible. Detectives are focusing on vehicles observed near the business around the time of the burglary and have identified two vehicles of interest:
- A white Chrysler Pacifica.
- A newer-model white four-door BMW.
Police have not identified any suspects or indicated whether the burglary appears to have been targeted or whether investigators believe multiple people were involved.
Authorities are urging residents and businesses in the area to review any available security footage from the early morning hours of Aug. 10. Investigators are specifically requesting doorbell camera, surveillance camera, and dash-camera footage that may have captured suspicious activity or the vehicles of interest.

The burglary represents one of the larger reported commercial thefts in southeastern Wisconsin this year based on the estimated value of the stolen merchandise. With more than $200,000 in property reported missing, investigators are expected to devote significant resources to identifying those involved through surveillance footage, vehicle information, forensic evidence, and tips from the public.

TV news said the whole thing took 7 minutes from when they pulled up, to when they left. Insane that there would be that much dollar value worth of stuff with barely no security.
And now they’re saying it was over $300,000 in merchandise and they were in and out in under 5 minutes. At this rate, Friday’s news report will be that they got 11 billion dollars in merchandise and they did it in 17.5 seconds.

When I first saw this story on FB it was 100K. When it got reported on here it became 200k. When I saw it on the local news at 9:00 it reached 300k.

How when there is a house fire, the fire department most always gives a dollar estimate of the damage and loss ?
I wondered how they can give an accurate number in the moment and furthermore why bother ?
One fire fighter told me it is to put in a report for the state to track. Interesting.
But just where do they come up with these estimates and how can they possibly be accurate ?
In this case it’s almost an invasion of privacy. Unless the business owner wants to put it out there.
As for insurance fraud. You’ve got a long long way to go before anyone signs anything with any dollar amount on it. A full documented history will have to be submitted before totals are totaled up.
In this case, memorabilia is difficult at best to put final values on. As we all know, you can ask for a certain amount when selling something but until cash exchanges hands the value is just conjecture.
These Pokémon items might be easier to value but even so, nothing will get by the insurance companies adjusters without a fight.
I wouldn’t worry about fraud. The video evidence speaks for itself.
