EDITOR’S NOTE (Aug. 27, 2026, 9:57 a.m.): This article has been edited since its original publication to clarify certain statements following a public statement issued Thursday morning by Daybreak Church founder and lead pastor Brit Windel. Daybreak did not provide a response directly to KCE before publication and instead addressed KCE’s reporting in a public Facebook post Thursday morning.
KENOSHA, Wis. — Dale Robert Nixon, 43, of Kenosha, a former foster parent, adoptive parent and youth pastor at Daybreak Church in downtown Kenosha, was taken into custody Tuesday by Kenosha Police Department Sensitive Crimes detectives in connection with allegations of incest with a child and repeated sexual assault of the same child. Nixon remained in the Kenosha County Jail Wednesday and is expected to be formally charged Thursday.

Nixon was booked into the jail at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday as a newly charged prisoner following his arrest by the Kenosha Police Department. Jail records currently list two felony allegations: incest with a child related by blood or adoption and repeated sexual assault of the same child involving at least three alleged violations of first-degree sexual assault.
Kenosha County Eye has learned that Nixon is heavily involved with Daybreak Church in downtown Kenosha and serves as a youth pastor. Nixon is also a former foster parent and currently an adoptive parent.

KCE reached out Wednesday to Daybreak Church founder and lead pastor Brit Windel seeking information about Nixon’s current status with the church, including whether Nixon remains a youth pastor and, critically, whether he would continue to have access to students or other children if released from custody. Windel did not respond to KCE before publication.
Despite church leadership knowing of Nixon’s arrest and the horrifying nature of the allegations since Tuesday, there was no public statement from Daybreak addressing the arrest before KCE published its story Wednesday night. In KCE’s opinion, that lack of a public response made it appear church leadership was attempting to keep the matter out of the broader public realm.
KCE also extensively searched Daybreak Church’s Facebook presence and website and could not locate references to Nixon, despite his significant and longstanding involvement with the church. In KCE’s opinion, the absence of material concerning such a well-connected church member suggested that Nixon’s online presence may have been scrubbed following his arrest.
In KCE’s opinion, the lack of a public response and Nixon’s apparent absence from Daybreak’s online presence made the situation begin to look uncomfortably similar to what unfolded at Journey Church during the Gabriel E. Mills sex-crime investigation.
Journey Church also quickly scrubbed Mills from its website after his arrest. Journey Church lead pastor Kevin Taylor publicly claimed the church was cooperating with law enforcement and was committed to transparency. KCE later obtained Kenosha Police body-camera footage showing Taylor declining to provide investigators with information they sought concerning what Mills may have disclosed to church leadership.
Detective Eric Traxler sought information about what Mills may have told church leadership, but Taylor declined to provide it, telling the detective he was choosing not to disclose that information. Mills ultimately faced 15 felony charges involving intimate images of two women.
There is currently no evidence known to KCE that Windel withheld information from police as Taylor did, and KCE is not alleging that he did. The comparison concerns KCE’s opinion of Daybreak’s public transparency following Nixon’s arrest.
According to information provided to KCE by sources familiar with the investigation, the allegations against Nixon involve a family member and potentially involve dozens or even hundreds of alleged sexual assaults occurring over a period of several years. Kenosha County Eye has been made aware of some of the specific allegations being made against Nixon involving his relative, and they are too horrific to publish here. The precise number of alleged assaults has not yet been established publicly, and a criminal complaint had not been filed as of Wednesday evening.
Neighbors told KCE that children living at Nixon’s residence were removed from the home Tuesday and are believed to no longer be staying there. The circumstances surrounding their removal have not yet been made public.
Nixon is expected to be formally charged Thursday, when considerably more information about the allegations and the Kenosha Police Department Sensitive Crimes investigation is expected to become available.
Kenosha County Eye will update this story when the criminal complaint is filed and additional information becomes available.

What the hell are wrong with these men? And these churches? Similar things have happened at Living Light Church in Kenosha, too.
What happened at Living Light?
A former member was arrested on similar charges.
And a former deacon should have been
It was crazy, Josh Aulozzi a supposed advocate for victims led an investigation into sexual abuse charges only to have been caught a year later with incest charges.
And…..don’t forget the Catholic priests🤢🤮
Non-denominational community churches are particularly susceptible to charlatan operators. Today, many community church leaders have business degrees and run their churches as Weekend/Midweek showcase production operations heavy with emotive sensationalism to hook and lock naive congregants (including child predators) as secure steady revenue to build personal wealth. Their god is mammon. Jesus himself warned of these wolves dressed as sheep. This statement is not to infer that the majority of community churches are bad. In fact, many are excellent, for example, Calvary Chapel as outlined by the late Pastor Chuck Smith in “Calvary Chapel Distinctives” and as portrayed in the movie “The Jesus Revolution”. Many like community churches lead souls to Christ with the clean and right leadership, with excellent self-governance. Nevertheless, no church or denomination is perfect, including the most Baptist or Pentecostal.
Not surprised, that whole family is weird, always figured he was off in the head and he has done some weird stuff the past few years alone. Might have to sell that tahoe and santa fe yall just got for court costs! Banned your son from the neighbor kid cause he’s a “bad influence” yet look at you. Have fun explaining to the inmates why you’re in jail!
A lot of unfit fathers in southeastern Wisconsin if you ask me.
Who asked you ?
I’m a boomer that comments 24/7 but has nothing to say about stuff like this and I think gay ppl are the problem with our society
These people are not gay. They are like you, homophobic, self-proclaimed Christians.
Go figure.
True, they are.
I know he is white. I know he is male. I know he practices Christian religion. And it 100% certainly seems he is a despicable person who hurt people who couldn’t defend themselves.
I do not know if he’s gay.
But if he is, I won’t attribute his criminality and evil to that anymore than I will to him being a churchgoer or Christian or man or white.
And if you do, you’re an idiot.
These modern hip churches, which don’t preach the true Gospel of Christ, but rather a man centered feel good motivational message, seem to be more likely to have these types of problems.
You must have forgotten about the many sexual abuse scandals in Catholic churches over the years.
Put this pig and his pastor in a wood chipper. Disgusting filth
You cannot leave your children alone with any teacher or member of the clergy. If it is not a group meeting you best be with your child.
Like public/private school teachers, youth pastors work in a target rich environment.
Which is why both of these occupations have higher than normal issues with this sort of thing. It’s not rocket science.
What a lot of us don’t realize is that for some people sex is a major motivator. There are some people that will work years towards a goal of acquiring the ability to perform a certain sexual act. For some that means becoming a teacher. For others a youth pastor. For some, it’s making enough money so they can buy whatever they desire.
Suddenly, the people arguing that public schools are filled with groomers have fallen silent.
