KENOSHA, Wis. — Kenosha Police have identified the woman killed in Thursday’s pedestrian crash at Washington Road and 30th Avenue as 56-year-old Kenosha resident Darcy Sanchez. The crash happened at approximately 12:23 p.m. on Sept. 11, 2026, when a pickup truck struck Sanchez at the intersection.
Kenosha Police officers arrived and immediately began providing medical aid. The Kenosha Fire Department responded and continued life-saving efforts, but Sanchez died from her injuries and was pronounced dead.
Driver Remained At Scene
Police said the pickup truck was driven by a 70-year-old man who remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Preliminary information gathered from video evidence and witness statements indicates the driver was making a legal turn through the intersection when he struck Sanchez.
Kenosha Police Capt. Leo Viola previously told Kenosha County Eye that criminality was not suspected in connection with the crash.
Major Crash Team Investigating
The Kenosha Police Department’s Major Crash Assistance Team was activated and responded to process the crash scene. Investigators have been assigned to the case, and police said the investigation remains ongoing.
Police radio traffic from Thursday showed a significant law enforcement presence around Washington Road and 30th Avenue as officers worked the scene. Traffic in the area was restricted during the investigation.
No additional information about the 70-year-old driver was released by police.
