KENOSHA, Wis. — Kenosha kids will get to do trick-or-treating the old-fashioned way this year: on Halloween.
The City of Kenosha announced that official trick-or-treat hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, continuing the city’s policy of holding trick-or-treating on Halloween Day. This year’s calendar provides something many parents and children may especially appreciate. Halloween falls on a Saturday, meaning children can head door-to-door on the actual holiday without families having to juggle school the next morning.
Kenosha has actually maintained the Halloween-day tradition for years. In 2022, when Oct. 31 fell on a Monday, the city still scheduled trick-or-treating for Halloween rather than moving it to the preceding weekend. Contemporary reporting said city officials had followed that practice for about a decade.
In 2021, when Halloween fell on a Sunday, Kenosha likewise held its official trick-or-treating from 4 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 31.
Porch Lights Mean Candy
Residents who want to participate are asked to turn on a porch or front-yard light to let trick-or-treaters know they are welcome.
The city is also reminding drivers to slow down and use extra caution while children are walking through neighborhoods. Sunset in Kenosha on Halloween will be at approximately 5:45 p.m., meaning the final portion of the city’s three-hour trick-or-treat window will take place after dark. Officials recommend reflective tape on costumes to make children easier for motorists to see.
The city also passed along food-safety recommendations, including inspecting candy before children eat it, checking labels for allergens and removing choking hazards such as gum, peanuts, hard candy and small toys from the Halloween bags of very young children.
