BRISTOL, Wis. — A 46-year-old Illinois woman was killed early Tuesday morning after authorities say a 19-year-old Genoa City man crossed the centerline on Wilmot Road, sideswiped one vehicle and then crashed head-on into the woman’s car.
Kenosha County Sheriff’s deputies and Bristol and Prairie fire personnel were dispatched to the three-vehicle crash in the 21200 block of County Highway C, also known as Wilmot Road, at about 5:21 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.
According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, the 19-year-old was driving a Chevrolet HHR eastbound when investigators believe he crossed the centerline and sideswiped a westbound vehicle. The HHR then collided head-on with a westbound Chevrolet Impala driven by the 46-year-old Ingleside, Illinois, woman.
Both drivers involved in the head-on crash were trapped and had to be extricated by rescue personnel. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The 19-year-old was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries and is cooperating with investigators.
The driver of the vehicle that was initially sideswiped was not injured and gave investigators a witness statement.
The joint-agency Major Crash Assistance Team responded to investigate, along with the Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office. The woman’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of her family.
“Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the woman who lost her life in this tragic crash,” Kenosha County Sheriff David Zoerner said. He thanked the deputies, firefighters and rescue personnel who responded and said investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Wilmot Road reopened at about 10 a.m. The crash remains under investigation.

You know what would be an interesting FOIA request? The location of every KCSO squad mid-shift on a random Wednesday afternoon. People drive so fast, and so recklessly, in Kenosha, and it is so rare to see deputies out running radar.
Maybe some lives could be saved on our roads, if we started holding Zoerner accountable for the lack of deputies doing traffic enforcement.
Requests have been made to patrol Hwy C (aka The Racetrack. or Memorial Drive) due to the speeding morons, reckless dump trucks drivers on their phones, crotch rockets splitting the lanes, etc.
The answer? It would be too difficult for deputies to work Hwy C because it’s so busy.
So…. they can run radar on the interstate and Hwy 50, but C is too difficult?
The Sheriff doesn’t care unless he can appear on the news after the fact. His “friends” like drag racing down C and he says not to bother the working folks (dump trucks doing 90 mph while loaded).
And we will have another roadside memorial….
They don’t run radar on 50 or I-94. I drive 50 from White Caps out to LG twice a week, then on my way back, I take 50 to 45 and 45 north to 20. I can count on one hand, the number of times I’ve seen deputies somewhere other than KCC (not even running radar— just laid eyes on them PERIOD) over the past six months. Kenosha is pathetic. When I see patients in Racine Co., I see deputies everywhere.
They do, but not nearly as much as Racine Co.
I see Kenosha City cops on 50 all the time running radar. The sheriff’s deputies run radar off the weigh station in the north bound lane of I-94 regularly. They love running radar on 165 from Green Bay Rd to the frontage road. People get pulled over usually at the end of the month in those spots. Watch Halloween weekend, it’ll be like shooting fish in a barrel. They’ll be writing their weight in speeding tickets all along that corridor.
I must be blind then bc I take 50 from 45 all the way past 94 daily and RARELY see cops running radar.

The area of the crash was as you just come out of the serpentine curve (heading east) and road is about to straighten out. This usually means they were going too fast through the curve to the left and couldn’t stay in the lane when it curved to the right.
Tons of crashes here due to speed.
On my way home today I saw an idiot in a pickup pass 3 cars while heading west at the exact spot this happened. This was at about 4 when it’s nice and busy 🤦♀️
