SOMERS, Wis. – Joshua Todd Martin, 48, the owner of Josh Martin Roofing, Inc., and his wife, Michelle Renee Martin, 46, were both arrested Saturday evening, October 17, 2026, after the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched at approximately 4:28 p.m. to the couple’s approximately $1 million, five-acre estate in the 8600 block of 7th Street in Somers for a check for well-being. According to sources, a caller told authorities that Martin had been physically abusing his wife and feared he was “going to kill her” that night. The caller also reported bruises allegedly caused by Martin striking his wife the previous day. Joshua Martin, whose arrest history spans more than 20 years and includes a previous domestic abuse conviction, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct. Michelle Martin, 46, of Somers, was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

Sources familiar with the couple told Kenosha County Eye that the Martins’ marriage has been “very toxic” for quite some time, describing longstanding problems within the relationship. The sources characterized Saturday’s incident as occurring against a backdrop of ongoing marital turmoil rather than an isolated disagreement. The precise nature of those longstanding problems has not been independently established, although court and jail records document previous law enforcement encounters involving both spouses.
According to sources, the person requesting the welfare check reported that Michelle had bruises on her arms and legs from allegedly being struck by her husband the previous day. Authorities were also advised that a 10-year-old child was inside the residence, that someone might be intoxicated, and that firearms were present in the home. The allegations have not yet been independently substantiated, and the circumstances that led deputies to arrest both spouses have not been made public.
Sheriff’s Department records identify the incident as a welfare check, assigned incident number 2026-00342899. Joshua Martin was booked into the Kenosha County Jail at 7:10 p.m. on allegations of misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct. Michelle Martin was booked just 15 minutes later, at 7:25 p.m., for misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Both were released that evening, Joshua at 8:50 p.m. and Michelle at 10:10 p.m. Although the arrests closely followed the welfare check involving the same individuals, the underlying police reports have not yet been obtained, and authorities have not publicly explained the circumstances surrounding the arrests.
More Than 20 Years Of Arrests And A Previous Domestic Abuse Conviction
Joshua Martin’s documented arrest history dates back to March 27, 2006, when he was arrested by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department on allegations of criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct. Martin, then 27, was booked into the Kenosha County Jail and released the following day after posting bond. Historical jail records list both charges but do not establish their ultimate dispositions.
Four years later, Martin was charged in February 2010 with misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct, both carrying domestic abuse modifiers, following an incident on January 23, 2010. According to Kenosha County Circuit Court records, the case involved a woman identified as Michelle M., and Martin was initially prohibited from having contact with her or visiting her residence. The conditions were imposed while the criminal case remained pending before Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge Chad G. Kerkman.
During subsequent court proceedings, Martin sought permission to have contact with Michelle. On March 12, 2010, Kerkman denied his request for direct contact but modified the bond conditions to permit communication through third parties and access to the woman’s residence when she was not present, for purposes involving the children. Martin again sought modification of the restrictions later that month, but the court denied the request.
Martin ultimately pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct with a domestic abuse modifier on May 21, 2010. The battery charge was dismissed on the prosecutor’s motion. Kerkman withheld sentence and placed Martin on one year of probation, with conditions that included restrictions on alcohol consumption, drug use, and participation in counseling as directed by his probation agent.
While the original domestic abuse case remained pending, Martin was charged with two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping arising from March 21, 2010. He pleaded guilty to both counts on May 21, 2010, and received one year of probation with sentence withheld. The court records establish that the earlier case involved restrictions concerning Michelle M., although the available documents do not conclusively establish whether she is the same Michelle Renee Martin arrested Saturday.
Martin’s more recent encounters with law enforcement include a March 12, 2023, arrest by the Pleasant Prairie Police Department for disorderly conduct. That incident resulted in a county ordinance citation, to which Martin pleaded no contest. He was found guilty of the noncriminal ordinance violation and fined $232. Sheriff’s Department booking records also show that Martin was arrested on March 10, 2024, on suspicion of disorderly conduct. The ultimate disposition of that arrest has not yet been established.
Michelle Martin Also Has Previous Arrest And Disorderly Conduct Forfeiture
Michelle Renee Martin also has a documented history involving the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department. On April 16, 2024, she was arrested on allegations of battery and disorderly conduct. She was booked into the Kenosha County Jail at 6:28 p.m. and released at 1:57 a.m. the following morning. The available records do not identify the alleged victim or establish the complete circumstances surrounding that incident, which ultimately resulted in proceedings in Kenosha County Circuit Court.
On June 27, 2024, Michelle appeared before Judge Gerad Dougvillo, represented by attorney Michael D. Cicchini. Prosecutors dismissed the related criminal charge in case 2024CM000536, while Michelle pleaded no contest to a county ordinance violation for disorderly conduct. Dougvillo found her guilty of the noncriminal forfeiture violation and imposed a $267.50 fine, which was paid in full. Michelle’s 2024 finding was not a criminal conviction, and she was not convicted of battery. Her latest arrest comes approximately two and a half years after that incident.
Owner Of Established Kenosha-Area Roofing Business
Joshua Martin is the owner of Josh Martin Roofing, Inc., a Kenosha-area roofing company that advertises residential, commercial, and industrial roofing services throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Martin previously worked with his father, Todd E. Martin, whose company, Martin & Sons Roofing, Inc., was incorporated in November 1995. Joshua subsequently separated from his father’s roofing operation and established his own company in September 2016.
According to Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions records, Joshua incorporated his business on September 1, 2016, initially under the name Josh Martin & Sons Commercial Roofing, Inc. The corporation changed its name to Josh Martin Roofing, Inc., effective November 2, 2016. The company’s website showcases commercial roofing projects involving recognizable businesses and advertises decades of industry experience.
State corporate records reveal that Josh Martin Roofing, Inc., was administratively dissolved on September 13, 2023, after previously falling delinquent. Martin & Sons Roofing, Inc., the company associated with his father, was also administratively dissolved, on December 14, 2024. Administrative dissolution does not necessarily mean a business has stopped operating, and Josh Martin Roofing continues to maintain a public website advertising its services.
Five-Acre Somers Estate Valued At Nearly $1 Million
The couple’s residence sits on approximately five acres in the Village of Somers. According to Kenosha County property records, the ranch-style home was constructed in 2010 and features approximately 2,607 square feet of finished first-floor living space, four bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a half bathroom, a large attached garage, and a sizable basement.
The property’s 2025 tax bill lists Joshua and Michelle Martin and identifies an assessed value of $859,200 and an estimated fair market value of $879,800. Zillow estimates the property’s value at approximately $964,100, with a projected sales range extending above $1 million. The annual property tax bill totaled $11,195.16. Wisconsin corporate records also identify the residence as the registered agent address and principal office of Josh Martin Roofing, Inc.
Investigation And Potential Charges
Although jail booking records identify the offenses for which both Martins were arrested, the underlying police reports have not yet been obtained, and the complete circumstances surrounding the arrests remain unclear. In particular, it is not yet known what deputies observed at the residence, who was identified as the alleged victim of the battery, or what conduct prompted Michelle Martin’s arrest for disorderly conduct.
The initial allegations reported to authorities were serious, including claims of physical violence, visible bruising, concern for Michelle’s safety, and the presence of a child and firearms at the residence. Those allegations remain distinct from the offenses listed in the booking records, and the available documentation does not establish which allegations, if any, were substantiated by investigators.
Both Martins were released from custody the same evening. As of publication, the available records do not establish whether the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office will file criminal charges arising from Saturday’s incident.
