A 67-year-old Kenosha named Martin E. Eils set his house on fire and shot himself this morning, seemingly due to a dispute with his family. According to Kenosha Police, “at about 9:54 AM they and the Kenosha Fire Department responded to the 3400 block of 30th Street for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, the Kenosha Police Department spoke with the adult male resident (67 years old), who had sustained injuries related to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The man informed police that he intentionally set the fires before being transported by helicopter to a hospital in Milwaukee. The Kenosha Police Department will be investigating this incident.”

The Kenosha Fire Department reported finding two active fires on the property. One in the home and one in the detached garage. Both fires were contained to the property and did not affect any neighboring homes. The Kenosha Fire Department activated (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) MABAS to get assistance from other local fire departments to handle calls for service that came in while KFD was at the 30th Street fire. “The KFD would like to thank all of those agencies for their assistance,” said a Kenosha Fire Department Spokesman.

Eils was in the process of a court eviction. He was scheduled to be in court Monday, August 12, 2024 and was expected to be formally evicted by family. He was squatting in the home after his family asked him to move out and even offered to pay him to leave.

Eils was upset at his sister for not allowing him to continue to live rent free. It appears he attempted to burn the house down out of spite, knowing his days of living rent-free were numbered. KCE has received an unverified tip that Eils is ok life support.

This is a breaking story.

    1. Apparently, you’ve never tried to sell tools.
People offer pennies on the dollar, because they just want to flip them at the flea markets.

        1. You have no clue what you are talking about. Keep your stupid comments to yourself and have some respect for his family.

        1. He was NOT a squatter, he was allowed to live there by his parents. His sister hates his guts and wished him dead. He was living in that house not bothering anyone. My dad was a GREAT man.

  1. Whitecaps subdivision was all built by nonunion labor (beginning in 1990) and I seem to recall the contractor was from Illinois.

    1. Maybe some were, but I know many union guys that worked on that project.
Some really scary stories on how shoddy they were built and how many
patch jobs were used to correct problems.

    2. The point being? Non union tends to build better as they workers actually care about work and not breaks and trying to skirt the system.

    3. I believe the contractor in the White caps subdivision was Zych construction.
They built everyone of those homes on the cheap and used shotty materials. Our company installed the silt fencing for that whole project. Anyone who lived in town at the time of construction sure weren’t buying those garbage houses, it was the out of town stupids that sucked them all up, including Kenosha’s current mayor.

    1. Have some respect for his family! He has children and grandchildren who do not need to hear or read these ridiculous comments from people who knew nothing about my dad.

  2. It is BS that you have to evict someone that you were giving a helping hand.
Back-in-the-day they were consider squatters not tenants.

        1. You have no idea what your talking about. His sister hates him and wished him dead. She is now the only living sibling, this was all a greed thing and had nothing to do with my dad. She wanted that house to sell it to her daughter and pocket all the money.

          1. This is not true he was getting evicted cuz he didn’t pay the taxes like he was supposed to he spent all his money on drugs and alcohol that’s why he was getting kicked out. Why should his 96 yr old mother have to support a grown ass man
