KENOSHA, Wis. — A 40-year-old Kenosha man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after authorities say he pushed a woman against a wall during a heated argument, then snatched her phone and hung up on a 911 call.
Jordan Quinonez was charged Monday in Kenosha County Circuit Court with felony intimidation of a victim, misdemeanor battery, and disorderly conduct, all with domestic abuse and repeater enhancers. The charges stem from a confrontation at his 39th Avenue apartment on August 16.
According to the criminal complaint, dispatchers received a 911 call in which they could hear a woman screaming “Stop!” and a man yelling, “You ain’t calling the cops,” before the call abruptly ended. When officers arrived, they found Quinonez and the woman inside the residence.
The woman told police the dispute began after she accidentally used Quinonez’s credit card for a Walmart purchase. She said he became enraged, calling her names and accusing her of stealing $167. According to her account, Quinonez shoved her multiple times, at one point pinning her against a wall with his forearm pressed across her chest, causing pain.
When she told him she was calling the police, Quinonez allegedly lunged for her phone, wrestled it away, and ended the 911 call. She told officers she feared the situation was escalating and tried to lock herself in another room until help arrived. Officers noted she was sobbing and visibly shaken but declined medical treatment. She later signed a 72-hour no-contact order against Quinonez.
Quinonez denied becoming violent, insisting the disagreement was only verbal and centered on money in his CashApp account. He was taken into custody after officers determined there was probable cause to arrest him.
Court records show Quinonez has prior felony convictions for bail jumping and retail theft in Racine County. Because of those convictions, prosecutors added repeater enhancers, which could increase his potential sentence if convicted.
The most serious charge, felony intimidation of a victim, carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine, with up to four additional years due to his prior record.
Court Commissioner William Michel II ordered a $3,000 cash bail and scheduled a preliminary hearing for August 21.
