KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. – A Milwaukee man convicted of possessing a stolen firearm during a 2022 traffic stop in Salem Lakes walked away with probation last week, despite facing the possibility of more than a decade behind bars. Alexis Tremain Price, 43, pleaded guilty in July to one felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon. A second charge of carrying a concealed weapon was dismissed but read in at sentencing.
According to the criminal complaint, Price was stopped by a Kenosha County sheriff’s deputy at about 1:48 a.m. on September 22, 2022, after the deputy noticed his Honda had a broken taillight. During the stop, the deputy reported smelling marijuana. Price admitted he had remnants of marijuana in an ashtray and even tossed a “roach” out of the window while showing the deputy. Deputies then searched the vehicle and found a Taurus G2C semi-automatic pistol in the glove box. The pistol had been reported stolen out of Milwaukee.
Price was arrested on the scene. Records showed he was already a convicted felon, with a 2006 Milwaukee County conviction for delivering cocaine. That conviction barred him from possessing firearms of any kind.
On September 16, Judge Angelina Gabriele sentenced Price, but instead of sending him to prison, she imposed and stayed a four-year Wisconsin state prison term — two years of initial confinement and two years of extended supervision, with credit for three days served. Gabriele then placed Price on three years of probation with conditions. As part of that probation, he must serve three months in the Kenosha County Jail, although 45 of those days are stayed at the discretion of his probation agent. He is scheduled to report to jail on September 20 at 8 a.m.
The court also ordered Price to pay costs, submit a DNA sample, and follow all probation rules. Any violations must be reported back to the court within 30 days, and at least 30 days before the end of his probation.
In total, Price faced a maximum penalty of 10 years and 9 months in custody and fines of up to $35,000. Instead, he will remain in the community under supervision.
Critics note that Gabriele, a Democrat, has built a reputation in Kenosha County for leniency in firearms cases — even when convicted felons are caught carrying stolen guns. They argue that her sentencing patterns show a consistent willingness to favor probation over prison, raising questions about how seriously the local courts treat gun crime.

Democrats constantly wanting tougher gun laws when they don’t even in force the ones we have. Can’t fix stupid
“enforce. (Can’t fix stupid, but you can use spellcheck.)
No cash bail, light sentences, probation…Illinois clown show
Enforce the gun laws that exist instead of proposing more. Felons in possession of a firearm, especially a stolen one, should have a mandatory prison sentence imposed.
