Wisconsin Appeals Court Denies Convicted Rapist’s Bid For New Trial, Another Blow To KUSD Board Member Yolanda Adams

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Wisconsin Court of Appeals on Wednesday shut down the latest appeal of Miguel J. Adams, who was convicted in Kenosha County of sexually assaulting his teenage daughter and committing incest. The failed appeal keeps the conviction firmly intact and reopens questions about the credibility of his mother, Kenosha Unified School Board member Yolanda Adams, who once served as the board’s president and is asking voters for another term this April.

In 2023, Kenosha County Eye broke the story that prosecutors accused Yolanda of lying under oath during her son’s trial. They alleged she misled the court about where the victim was living at the time, an issue that prosecutors said went directly to her truthfulness as a witness. That accusation, reported just before Yolanda’s re-election campaign that year, never went away — and now it looms larger than ever.

This week’s appellate decision is another reminder of how her involvement damaged the defense. The judges described Yolanda’s courtroom appearance as “withering” testimony — a phrase that, in context, allegedly meant her credibility collapsed under the pressure of cross-examination by Assistant District Attorney Patrick Anderson, The opinion also recorded the prosecutor’s claim that multiple relatives and ex-girlfriends of Miguel Adams used “the same phrases and word choices,” suggesting they had been coached by Yolanda.

Adams, now in his fifties, was convicted after a jury heard testimony that he engaged in inappropriate contact with his daughter in 2010. He was found guilty of second-degree sexual assault of a child and incest, both Class C felonies, each punishable by up to 40 years in prison. His appeal claimed that more of his daughter’s school records should have been released, that his lawyer was ineffective, and that a new trial was necessary. The three-judge panel rejected each of those arguments.

For Yolanda, the timing could not be worse. She is suspected to be, once again, on the ballot, and voters are being reminded that she was accused by a prosecutor of committing perjury to protect her son — a convicted child molester. The appellate ruling guarantees that Miguel’s conviction is permanent, and Yolanda’s role in the defense is part of the public record.

This is not just about her son. It’s about whether Kenosha can trust a school board member — and former president — who was accused of lying under oath, hinted to have coached testimony, and who delivered what the Court of Appeals characterized as withering testimony in a case involving child sexual abuse. With another election ahead, Yolanda Adams faces a political reckoning.

    1. She needs to e voted out of the KUSD school board. Remember when parents wanted answers during a meeting during the so-called pandemic? She walked out and refused to answer questions from parents! Vote her out please!

      27
  1. Please KUSD voters please vote her OUT! She cannot be trusted on many important issues( family and school) that come to mind.

    29
    1. ……. on how vulnerable these elected officials are to be voted out of office. The Iron is Hot !

Every time KCE exposes a local elected official of wrongdoing someone needs to look in their mirror and ask themselves, “ Can I do that Job ? “

“ Do I want that job ? Can I do that job better ?
Can I stand up to the scrutiny ? Is this the right move for me and my family ? “

If you can answer yes to all these questions then don’t worry about financing a campaign, just contact the Kenosha Republican Party at

      https://www.kenosha.gop/about

Tell them what office you want to run for. Tell them your personal story on how this office is meaningful in your life. Tell them the things you would try to accomplish if you succeed in getting into office.

Let the people who support the Republican Party help support your candidacy.
Don’t get this offer wrong. You have to put in the work ! You have to be completely involved in not just saying why you want to be elected but how you are ready to do the work to get there. Nothing is a cakewalk. Yes that’s a Boomer reference.

But the Iron is Hot Now !!
This is the Time To Step Up !!

      Is that You ?

      10
      1
      1. You run, then. I did once, and I got zero help from anyone. I got wiped out. I helped Lamar Madison two years ago, who didn’t realize the enormity of what he was facing. He ultimately got more votes than anyone ever got for second place (12,000+), but Ya-Ya crushed him, because it was a two person race. Lamar, like all conservatives, opened up the morning of election day behind by 3500 teacher union votes. Nobody seems to give a crap that our school district is declining in enrollment and the academic results are declining, too.

The school board election is about name recognition, little else. That’s why we have incompetents like Ya Ya and a rehashed Carl Bryan, long time stooge of KEA. Mary Modder is a far leftie whose purpose is to spend more money on payroll. Why would anyone think anything else, especially considering Mrs. Stevens, who’s hung around for over 20 years of financial and educational decline. I’ve been here 27 years. She has done nothing of consequence.

Money is important. I’ve checked what gets spent on the liberal candidates. To run an effective campaign without name recognition would be at least $50K, though, by the way, I ran an ad in KCE for Lamar, and it’s a lot better investment than the Kenosha News! In case anyone reading this is wondering what happened to Lamar, his company promoted him and moved him to California.

We need someone with name recognition, more than money. There’s a man named Kevin Mathewson who has name recognition. I wonder if he’d consider it.

        10
        3
          1. “Taxpayer” is 80. Count me out.

Anybody know where Amber Infusino is? She was a lion for Lamar. She does Moms for Liberty. She has command presence. She has a recognized family name.

        1. Unfortunately, AWOL is what most conservatives do best.
          Yeah, it’s true.
          No kicking the messenger.
Seen it for 30 years ……..

          2
          3
          1. Don’t forget most conservatives have jobs and don’t need to run for office ala Bernie Sanders to make some retirement money.

        2. You are correct on all of your points . Adams is a proven liar. Bryan is a clown. Mary Modder is a communist just like her husband . Rebecca Stevens is a hideous creature , and should go the way of her mentor , Joanne ” the meddler” Medley. Weiss needs to be replaced as well. It’s a complete shit show .

      2. THIS IS THE WAY…..working as a team to make the changes you want to see to hold schools accountable for the safety and education of our children. LOVE THIS.

  2. What do you think of porn in the schools, now Yo-yo? You belong in prison for witness tampering and perjury and nowhere near children! She is a worse piece of filth than I ever imagined!
Thank you Kevin, for bringing this to light!

    12
    2
    1. Yo yo has been involved with KUSD for way to long. Look what our once highly revered school system was and now has become under her watch! Any grandmother protecting a pervert and not her own grandchild has no business being in our education system! Vote her out!

  3. One other thing, in a meeting with Yolanda about porn in the schools, she said they had it when her kids were in school and they turned out fine. Think again, Yolanda

    14
    1. What a sad and ignorant comment. Where should we send all the whites that are shooting up the schools full of innocent children? You obviously need to get educated. And before you come at me, I do not in anyway agree with any of this.

  4. YO! So it was O.K. for your son to perform incest on your granddaughter. This child was like human garbage to you. She was probably a grandchild from some type of marriage/divorced/re-married/part of the package/not a blood relative, etc. YO! A fine example your family is presenting.

  5. If anything this will be a boost for Adams. Democrats worship Pedophiles and Liars. Remember, it’s not a crime if a Democrat commits it. It’s called Democrat Privilege, the cornerstone of Kenosha politics.

    1
    1
  6. Yolanda needs to be booted out of the school board. witch happens to be one of my goals, (Lower goal but one of them) I will be running for school board this up comeing election. On a mission to fix KUSD, cause clearly there’s a problem seeing as the same people on the school board keep getting re elected , and yet the district continues to go down. and on the same note , KUSD is loosening HUNDREDS of students each year , not entirely because of birth shortages in 2010s but because familys see issues and then Open enroll their children into other schools like Westosha Central and WIlmot , or St Joes and Shoreland. KUSD needs to be fixed , Keep a lookout for my Campain announcement , not running as a Dem or Rep , I’m running as someone who wants change.
