Kenosha Unified School District School Board President Yolanda Adams’ (D) son has been in and out of prison for the last 25 years. Shortly before 2010, Miguel Adams moved back in with his mother, Yolanda, along with his estranged daughter, according to appeal documents. Yolanda, however says that her granddaughter was not living with her at the time of the accusation. Yolanda knew about her son’s extensive criminal history including:

1991 – Felony Narcotic Possession
1993 – Felony Child Abuse-Recklessly Cause Harm
1993 – Battery
1993 – Disorderly Conduct
1993 – Disorderly Conduct
1997 – Robbery With Use of Force
1997 – Aggravated Battery/Intent-Great Bodily Harm
2000 – Possession with Intent Narcotics
2004 – Open Intoxicants In Motor Vehicle
2005 – Indecent Conduct – Urinate in Public

In 2010, while Miguel and Yolanda’s granddaughter were living with her, her granddaughter accused Miguel of sexually assaulting her. He took the case to a jury trial. He was convicted of second degree sexual assault of a child and incest in front of a jury of 12 men and women. He was sentenced to eight years in prison, followed by eight years extended supervision and 10 years of probation. He is now a lifetime sex offender registrant.

KCE reviewed some transcripts of the trial and some appeal documents after receiving a tip on March 30, 2023. The timing was curious, as Yolanda faces re-election on Tuesday, but the allegations were too serious to ignore.

Former Kenosha Assistant District Attorney Anderson accused Yolanda of lying under oath to the court and jury saying in part:

Paid Advertisement

“Is [Yolanda Adams] trustworthy? Did Yolanda Adams tell you the truth or did she lie? . . . Does she have a motive to lie? She appears to be highly motivated. It’s her son… Yolanda is a liar… Did you hear one example of a lie from [the Accuser]? Because I just gave you three from [Yolanda]. Who’s the liar? . . . There’s nothing that [Yolanda] said that’s believable. Not a thing. . . . what have you got? You’ve got a kid that spends the whole time consistent, straight story, never lies. We’ve got liar (pointing [at Yolanda]) and we’ve got liar (pointing [at Andre]).” Transcript Pages (201:118, 120-121, 124-125.)

We emailed Yolanda to get her side of this accusation. She responded, and told KCE in part:

“What I can say about the prosecutor is he was overzealous when trying to paint all witnesses who testified for the defendant as liars in an effort to win the case.  His job was to discredit all witnesses and is par for the course.  All witnesses for MA were unfairly called liars by the prosecutor; me as well.  I was not surprised because this prosecutor had a record of being tough and used similar tactics during numerous trials.”

Yolanda also expressed frustration that the appeal process has taken a very long time and she says that her son still professes his innocence and his attorney is confident her son’s name will be fully cleared at the Wisconsin Supreme Court, where the case is pending.

Yolanda is facing Lamar Madison in her re-election bid this Tuesday.

  1. Looks as though the son bears the fruit of his upbringing as Kenosha Un-unified school district bears the fruit of its school board president’s leadership.

        1. And he turned out awesome! Already patriotic American ready to defend! Thank you to Kyle’s mother for having good values, standards, & character and raising her son to have the same! Amazing the difference when you look at the way 2 single Mothers raising their sons with different values and beliefs in life!

      2. She’s an insult to all single mothers who go out and grind for their children and family every day. The comparison is insulting. I’m not raising my child to a leech to society. Looks like he also has 3 different children that he’s been taken to court for as well. #famikyvalues

  2. Another shinning example of KUSD’s best and brightest in my opinion.
Shame on all the ignorant, delusional shitheads that supported this skunk princess.
How did she become prominent in Kenosha ?
    Who put her there ?
Did the person/people who put her there benefit in any way ?
She now looks like just another mean, broken down ,bitter little Kenosha liberal skunk.

In my opinion princess needs to retire from public life and devote all of her time and energy to the church and charity work.

You have been a nasty, bad tempered shit disturber in Kenosha far too long Yolanda.

For the love of God please retire

  8. Yolanda Adams represents all the values of the union teachers at KUSD.
Certainly explains why parents seek other educational options rather than Kenosha Unified.

    9
    1
    1. I’m originally from Gary, IN. And trust me, Kenosha isn’t anything at all like that God-forsaken city.

  9. I’ll deviate for a moment to ask a serious question: What makes Catholic schools different? Why are they successful when the facilities are lesser and teachers are not paid as well? Two word answer: PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT.

So many people beat up on KUSD (which is a lot better than Racine, even on a bad day) but fail to acknowledge that the problem is the parents and the community. Kids have five years at home before they walk in the door, give or take. The primary educators are the parents. When they aren’t doing their job the kids suffer. And many kids have to be parents to their parents.

In the Catholic school example parents are EXPECTED to be involved. They send their kids to the school with an expectation of success and telegraph that message to their kids. The school is a community as well. Hillary may be wrong about a lot of things but it does take a village to raise children even with the best of parenting. (And, even with the best of parenting, many kids today fail. The lure of alcohol and drugs or gangs is too attractive for some to resist.)

The public schools are a dumping ground for all kinds of kids, some who will do well and others who are marked from day one. It’s much harder when the parents are MIA. Even when teachers try these kids go home to a life of failure. Some can beat the odds, many can’t.

That’s the reality, folks. Skip the politics. Schools aren’t like when we baby boomers were kids. I wish they were.

Now let’s talk about KUSD. The school board is a problem and we made it that way. Too many special interests want to have their say but not much from parents with active enrollment of kids in the district and kids themselves. School board pay is a joke, elections far too political and the district’s bureaucracy would make old Soviets envious. With all the acrimony surrounding the district and board, including that here, who in their right mind would want this?

The school board also doesn’t know its place. They are the board of directors of the school corporation. They don’t run the day-to-day operations — and shouldn’t. That’s what the superintendent and the staff does BUT then the board’s job is to hire a great superintendent. Too many times they failed miserably at the most important job they have!

Despite the politics the KUSD has a horrible relationship with teachers. They and parents are on the front lines of education. I may disagree with the KEA’s take but teachers should not have to stand up at citizen’s comments to be heard by the board! They are far more important than any administrator, including the superintendent. If there’s a problem, the board should WANT to hear from the front line people: teachers, parents and students. How else can the board know if the well-paid administrators are doing THEIR jobs?

The problem with Yolana isn’t that she’s liberal. The board should be a mix of the community with a common goal. The problem is that she’s out of touch and has been for a long time. This school board micromanages so many things and fails at almost everything. It’s a wonder how good our district actually is with all of this and with the overloaded bureaucracy that needs to be trimmed.

Yolanda isn’t the problem. She’s the image of many problems, including a “victim mentality” that crippled education. We need to pay the school board well, keep politics out of it and elect people who will hire a top notch superintendent and staff, empower them and teachers to get the job done and hold everyone accountable but otherwise keep their noses out of it. Policies need to be streamlined and teachers freed to teach. Parents need to be welcome at any time and expected to get involved. Administrators need to lead by example and understand that their duty to to secure what the teachers need to teach. It can be done. But it won’t because of politics and the attitude that has crippled the board for years and is getting worse.

And the district needs to get back to basics. We teach calculus to kids who can’t make change. Not everyone will be a scientist or engineer. We need to reinstate civics education and driver education as well. Nothing wrong with advanced classes. We should have more options for the kids who want and need them but otherwise begin with the basics. Much of the technology that laid the groundwork for today was invented by people with 1930s, 40s, 50s and 60s educations!

As I said at the beginning, if you want to fix the schools, fix the board first and change the culture.

    4
    2
    1. Typical answer, pay them more money. The fix? Get the woke, liberal indoctrination out of the public school system.

      5
      2
      1. Duh. The post didn’t say throw more money at the schools. It only suggested that paying the board a realistic salary for the board of directors of a multimillion dollar organization might attract better candidates and less outside dollars.

        2
        3
        1. No amount of money will change the politics that keep putting a despicable piece of garbage like her on the school board.

          3
          1
          1. I believe it’s $6500. Considering how much an election campaign costs there’s no way an individual can afford a campaign thus special interest money which is wrong.

    2. Yes!! So accurate!!! This is what needs to be said at a school board meeting. Why don’t people see this? Why do they keep voting for the same every time and expect different results? Why aren’t parents more involved at the public school level?

      1
      1
    3. Whoever you are, thank you for a thoughtful reply. Money for board members won’t increase the quality of candidates. However, you have focused on parental involvement for success. Readers, please vote for Lamar Madison for KUSD school board. Lamar advocates respect for parents by all involved with KUSD and involvement of parents on behalf of their children. In campaigning for Lamar Madison, I have found that most successful students had parents who read to their children when they were very young and also were involved in their child’s education. There are plenty of parents unhappy with the controversial historical and sexual issues being presented particularly to young children. Vote for Lamar Madison go give a heave ho to the frivolous issues which divide children early on, rather than focusing on core reading and math. YSA is asleep when it comes to leadership. Lamar Madison will use his position on the board to advocate for a positive relationship between teachers and the parents of students. Lamar Madison, who has two boys at KUSD, is a major in the Army reserves who served in Afghanistan, and who has a “major” job with a pharmaceutical company, is a role model for all parents and students. YSA is running on the perennial “name recognition”, which is nothing more than the status quo for a system that fails far too many of its students.

      2
      1
    4. It’s much easier for cowards to blame a person based on biased and quite frankly racist views than offer any involvement or parental responsibility.

  10. Where is our savior Robert Wirch ?

  11. We need a blue ribbon school board to hire a blue ribbon superintendent who will be empowered to get the job done without micromanagement but with accountability. Employees who perform well should be rewarded and those who don’t shown the door.

    1. Readers of Kenosha County Eye have had 30 days of seeing Lamar Madison’s ad. KCE can bring in a few thousand votes that didn’t exist in the primary. Probably 10,000 flyers have been distributed, and a huge Lamar mailing was sent out by the 1776 project PAC. Mothers for Liberty has been extremely active on the ground. YSA is relying solely on name recognition and aa few yard signs. Lamar was endorsed by Dan Wade in a Sunday edition of the Kenosha News, a newspaper left to 5000
older people who read the VOP section and vote.
Keep the faith and vote for Lamar today. Make YSA a loser. Lamar is a winner.
