KENOSHA, Wis. — A Kenosha man accused of skipping out on a restaurant tab more than three years ago was finally back in court this week, after multiple warrants were issued for failing to appear.
Blake M. Borzick, 28, was originally charged on November 19, 2021, with one count of fraud on an innkeeper (nonpayment under $2,500) — a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine.
According to the criminal complaint, on July 25, 2021, Borzick allegedly walked out of Century Pub & Eatery on 6th Avenue without paying for his meal, which included prime rib, fried pickles, and two drinks totaling $25.30. A restaurant employee told police that Borzick was a former worker who had been fired for stealing from the register. The manager confirmed his identity through Facebook.
Court records show an arrest warrant was first issued for Borzick on November 22, 2021, by then–Court Commissioner Larry Keating, with bond set at $250. After missing a court appearance on September 26, 2022, a second warrant for $500 was issued.
Borzick finally appeared in court this week before Court Commissioner William Michel II, who set a $500 cash bail — an amount that critics say almost guarantees he will not return to court. His next hearing is scheduled for December 5, 2025.
If convicted, Borzick faces up to nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine.
