SALEM LAKES, Wis. — On Aug. 28, 2025, the Official Government-run and government-owned Facebook page for the Village of Salem Lakes posted an announcement inviting residents to attend two public open houses regarding the Comprehensive Plan Update: 2050 — a blueprint intended to guide future growth and development in the community. 1. The public hoi polloi voices are distractive noise to these two Democrat cupcakes. The pic of the Democrat blondi alpha-femme visually conveys all one needs to know about her arrogant and dismissive character. Bet big that the bald, goateed Democrat legalman has all the budget money fully front-run. Monitoring the projected money flows from budget soup to invoice nuts along with blondi’s and baldy’s private bank accounts over the next year will surely be quite revealing. Their defiant action is a flashing red light of inbound fraud. Good on Eye for reporting this – and keep a watchful eye on it.

      1. These so‑called “Republicans”? Not a Chance these are Trumpers. This Village has turned into a spender’s paradise for staff; everybody gets a raise. You got a pulse you get a raise. Also, Lets hire more people than we need, Staff could give a flying F if you have to pay more taxes, I bet most don’t pay taxes in our Village.

  1. Either Bristol shut there’s down or they blocked me. These local governments running scared of the boogie man…. Aka KCE

  2. What a shock. This village has no concept of transparency. They think we are just a bunch of trash hillbillies. They hike up my taxes without explanation. Any incumbents in the next election are a definite no from me. Just time to flush the political toilet again, the dam thing keeps backing up.

  3. What in the world happened to Rita Bucur?
When elected she had a clear mandate for change from the previous administration and tons of support. She started out fine and then went in the tank. Now nothing is open, transparent, or easy. The staff and many elected officials, headed by Rita, have circled the wagons and kept the populace at arms length.
At this pace, and without serious self change, she won’t last long.

  4. Every time I see a Salem Lakes story, I want to go to Village Hall parking lot and scream I live here. JUST STOP DOING ANYTHING, do the opposite of what you think, PLEASE STOP TRYING!!! I can’t afford your decisions, your breaking me, I’m not rich, I live paycheck to paycheck trying to raise a family in this quite little community. Please, just Stop doing anything but the basics. Spending money we don’t have isn’t a plan, please stop. I’m sorry, this is a hard month. Please start listening to us.

    1. I guess you received your updated tax bill today, just like I did. It’s the Villages Merry Christmas to you. Was there any explanation for the increase? I’m not sure, maybe a loan? Anyone know?

  5. If you don’t like the comments, don’t read them.

On the village site or here. Simple.

Rita only needs to respond to emails she receives officially. Doesn’t need to be part of social media comments. Simple.

    1
    3
      1. She is fighting a battle that doesn’t need to be fought.
The law states comments are allowed.
Just because she doesn’t like them doesn’t give her the right to stop them.
To that point, she doesn’t need to read them. They are just comments.
If anyone wants to get her to do anything they should talk to her directly by email or in person.
Otherwise social media comments are just words.

        1
        2
  6. There’s even a Wisconsin Supreme Court case addressing similar concerns. More recently, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, which covers Wisconsin, reaffirmed this principle in Krasno v. Mnookin (2025). The court held that the University of Wisconsin violated the First Amendment when it removed comments it didn’t like from its Facebook and Instagram pages.
Other case law reinforces this point: Lindke v. Freed (U.S. Supreme Court, 2024), Knight First Amendment Institute v. Trump (2nd Cir. 2019), Davison v. Randall (4th Cir. 2019), and Rosenberger v. Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia (1995).
This is effectively what Salem Lakes has done, shutting down public input not because of any legitimate policy concern, but because residents were expressing criticism or, more accurately, expressing what they want for their own community. Remember: “Democracies aren’t born, they’re lost.”
This Village is not acting legally, in my opinion. At this point, their brand of foolishness doesn’t seem accidental. Either their attorney isn’t involved, or the Village is receiving very poor legal advice, in my view. The law on this issue has been settled for decades. Lastly, Salem Lakes charted its course the moment it allowed public comments. It seems clear, the Village must now continue to allow comments. The Village’s actions are, in my opinion, indefensible.
They would be wise to correct this error before a lawsuit forces the issue into court.

    1. …why the person or persons that have access and or control of the facebook account made this change willingly ?

The village clerk. The village treasurer. The acting village administrator(s). Whoever ?

Don’t they know this is ILLEGAL !!

Or at least once they were called out on it, put it back to the way it was !
Rita is a lot of things but a legal scholar is not one of them.
This is wrong and needs to corrected Immediately !!
Or we will all pay for the lawsuit !

Speaking of lawsuit. Wouldn’t Remzy be named as a defendant here ? He’s supposed to be working for all 14,000 citizens not just Rita ?
Remzy. Do your job here !
Tell them they are wrong. NOW !

  7. That blank look on her face, just screams dumb as a box of rocks. I guess you don’t need any brains to be
Sr. Print Project Manager at Uline, but you certainly do to be the Village President of Salem Lakes.
