19-Year-Old Driver Crosses Centerline In Wilmot Road Crash, Illinois Woman Killed

BRISTOL, Wis. — A 46-year-old Illinois woman was killed early Tuesday morning after authorities say a 19-year-old Genoa City man crossed the centerline on Wilmot Road, sideswiped one vehicle and then crashed head-on into the woman’s car.

Kenosha County Sheriff’s deputies and Bristol and Prairie fire personnel were dispatched to the three-vehicle crash in the 21200 block of County Highway C, also known as Wilmot Road, at about 5:21 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.

According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, the 19-year-old was driving a Chevrolet HHR eastbound when investigators believe he crossed the centerline and sideswiped a westbound vehicle. The HHR then collided head-on with a westbound Chevrolet Impala driven by the 46-year-old Ingleside, Illinois, woman.

Both drivers involved in the head-on crash were trapped and had to be extricated by rescue personnel. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The 19-year-old was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries and is cooperating with investigators.

The driver of the vehicle that was initially sideswiped was not injured and gave investigators a witness statement.

The joint-agency Major Crash Assistance Team responded to investigate, along with the Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office. The woman’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of her family.

“Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the woman who lost her life in this tragic crash,” Kenosha County Sheriff David Zoerner said. He thanked the deputies, firefighters and rescue personnel who responded and said investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Wilmot Road reopened at about 10 a.m. The crash remains under investigation.

  1. You know what would be an interesting FOIA request? The location of every KCSO squad mid-shift on a random Wednesday afternoon. People drive so fast, and so recklessly, in Kenosha, and it is so rare to see deputies out running radar.

    Maybe some lives could be saved on our roads, if we started holding Zoerner accountable for the lack of deputies doing traffic enforcement.

Kenosha Dumps Diluted Wastewater Into Lake Michigan After More Than 4.5 Inches Of Rain

KUSD Enrollment Drops By 770 Students In One Year, Falls 442 Below District Projection

KENOSHA, Wis. — Kenosha Unified School District enrollment fell by 770 students this school year, dropping from 17,799 students in September 2025 to 17,029 students in the district’s official Sept. 18, 2026 Third Friday count. The decline represents a loss of about 4.3% of KUSD’s student population in a single year. The final number also came in significantly below what KUSD had anticipated.
