KENOSHA, Wis. — Kenosha County Eye has obtained surveillance video of the July road-rage beating that led to criminal charges against Tanya Nicole Angotti, 45, and her husband, John Michael Angotti, 44, and the footage appears to closely mirror the sequence of events described by police and prosecutors. The graphic video shows Tanya Angotti getting out of the passenger side of a Toyota 4Runner carrying what appears to be a roughly six-foot-long piece of white PVC pipe and moving rapidly toward the alleged victim before she, her husband and Tanya Angotti’s 14-year-old son, RW, become involved in an extended physical attack.
Kenosha County Eye requested and obtained the surveillance footage after Angotti and several people supporting her publicly accused this publication of fabricating portions of its original story. Comments posted on social media and on Kenosha County Eye also challenged the accuracy of the police reports, the criminal complaint and the alleged victim’s account of what happened.
The video is being published so readers can see the evidence for themselves. The footage appears to show Tanya Angotti exit the passenger seat holding the long white PVC pipe and run toward the man. During the confrontation, she can be seen striking the man several times before later handing the PVC pipe to RW (14).

The confrontation then develops into what appears on video to be a prolonged three-on-one attack involving Tanya Angotti, John Angotti and Tanya Angotti’s son, RW (14). At different points in the footage, all three can be seen surrounding and striking the man. RW can also be seen going through the open side of the man’s vehicle during the confrontation to continue attacking him. At another point, the man is on the ground while both adults and RW can be seen kicking and punching him.
The assault continues for roughly two minutes. The criminal complaint filed Sept. 10 described substantially the same sequence. Prosecutors alleged that Tanya Angotti exited the 4Runner armed with a white PVC pipe measuring approximately four to six feet long and that Tanya, John and Tanya Angotti’s minor son surrounded the man near his open driver’s door.
Prosecutors further alleged that after Tanya Angotti punched the man in the stomach and he struck her in response, all three began repeatedly punching and kicking him in the face, head and body. According to the complaint, Tanya Angotti grabbed the man by his hair, pulled him to the ground and continued striking and kicking him while he was down.
The alleged victim told police the beating continued even after he repeatedly said “sorry.” Prosecutors wrote that John Angotti eventually stopped striking him but that RW continued kicking him for another five to 15 seconds. The juvenile allegedly asked the man, “How does it feel to get your ass beat by a 14 year old?”
The man also told police he believed he was struck several times with the PVC pipe. Police documented injuries including swelling and redness around his left eye, scratches and bleeding on his elbow and knee, redness on both sides of his neck and a ripped shirt collar. He later sought medical treatment.
Juvenile Case Believed Filed
Kenosha County Eye believes Tanya Angotti’s 14-year-old son, RW, was also charged in the juvenile court system in connection with the beating. Juvenile court matters are confidential and are not publicly accessible through the same court-record system used for adult criminal cases. KCE’s conclusion is based on records associated with the case that appear to indicate a juvenile complaint was also generated.
The publicly filed adult complaint identifies RW as Tanya Angotti’s minor son and alleges he participated throughout the confrontation, including repeatedly punching and kicking the man and continuing to kick him after John Angotti stopped. Kenosha County Eye is not publishing RW’s full name.
Different Account Given To Police
John Angotti later acknowledged during a recorded police interview that he, Tanya Angotti and RW were all physically involved in the altercation, although he gave investigators a substantially different account of how the fight began.
According to the complaint, John Angotti told investigators that the other driver threatened the family, used racial slurs and struck Tanya Angotti first. He also told police that the man pulled in front of their vehicle and slammed on his brakes before gesturing for them to pull over.
The complaint alleges that before the physical confrontation, Tanya Angotti yelled racial slurs from the passenger window, including, “I’ve been waiting for a nig*er like you.”
Prior Criminal Records
Court records reviewed by Kenosha County Eye show Tanya Angotti has a prior domestic-abuse battery conviction under the name Tanya N. Schneeberger. In 2017, she was charged in Kenosha County with battery and disorderly conduct, both with domestic-abuse modifiers. The disorderly conduct count was dismissed, and she pleaded guilty to the battery charge. The court imposed a $10 fine plus costs, along with DNA and domestic-abuse surcharges.
John Angotti also has multiple prior criminal convictions. In Racine County, he was convicted in 2010 of hit-and-run. Court records show a judgment of conviction was entered after an earlier missed court appearance resulted in a bench warrant and bond forfeiture.
In another Racine County case, Angotti was convicted in 2020 of operating a commercial motor vehicle without a license. He was sentenced to six days in the Racine County Jail and assessed a $200 fine inclusive of costs.
More recently, John Angotti was charged in Kenosha County with two counts of intentionally contributing to the delinquency of a child. In August 2024, he pleaded guilty to one count while the second was dismissed. Court records show $500 in restitution had been paid, and the court imposed a $50 fine plus costs and a DNA surcharge.
Why KCE Is Publishing The Video
Kenosha County Eye does not ordinarily publish every piece of raw evidence obtained during a criminal investigation. In this instance, however, the defendant and her supporters publicly accused this publication, police and prosecutors of fabricating what happened.
The surveillance video allows readers to make their own assessment.
When public records are available to substantiate reporting that has been publicly branded as fabricated, Kenosha County Eye will, when appropriate, publish the receipts.
Tanya Angotti and John Angotti are each charged with misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct. They are scheduled to make their initial appearances Oct. 7 before Court Commissioner Daniel E. Kellum.
