Deputy Joseph Thomas

Saturday morning, around 3:09am, Kenosha Police were dispatched to a car vs building in the 6400 block of Pershing Blvd. A Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department Deputy was the closest squad in the area and was the first on scene. While en route, dispatch advised the vehicle operator was still in the vehicle, trapped, and becoming engulfed in flames.

The Deputy immediately ran to the burning car, forced entry to the burning vehicle, which was partially inside a home, cut the drivers seatbelt off and pulled them out of the burning vehicle. Once out of the vehicle, the vehicle driver was turned over to KPD.

With the vehicle driver safe and with KPD/KFD, the Deputy then evacuated the homeowners and made sure they were safe and uninjured as well.

Deputy Joseph Thomas went above and beyond his normal call of duty. He is an excellent example of who KSD Deputies are that are out on our roads everyday,” said Kenosha County Sheriff’s spokesman Sergeant Collen Coultrip.
