KENOSHA, Wis. – A 44-year-old Kenosha man is facing felony battery charges after prosecutors say he assaulted a coworker following a night of drinking last fall.

(Kenosha County Sheriff)
Lloyd J. Belongia was formally charged in Kenosha County Circuit Court with one felony count of substantial battery and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. He appeared in court Friday, where Court Commissioner William Michel II ordered a $5,000 cash bail. A $5,000 arrest warrant had previously been issued on March 21. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 20.
According to the criminal complaint, the alleged victim told police the incident occurred in the early morning hours of November 11, 2024, after he and Belongia finished their kitchen shifts at The Spot restaurant. The coworker stated Belongia invited him to a nearby apartment above Johnny Midnights for drinks. During the gathering, the coworker reportedly made a joke calling Belongia a “pedophile,” which allegedly provoked Belongia to punch him multiple times and put him in a chokehold, causing the man to nearly pass out.
The victim told officers he was then held in the apartment by threats until Belongia left hours later. He also claimed he could “barely hear” out of his left ear and later sought medical treatment.
When detectives followed up days later, the victim gave a different account, stating he was attacked by Belongia and another man while walking home near 60th Street and 18th Avenue. He reiterated that Belongia punched him in the ear and the second man choked him. Medical records confirmed a perforated eardrum.
Officers were unable to locate surveillance footage or reach Belongia by phone, according to the complaint. A woman identified as Belongia’s girlfriend told officers he was living in his vehicle. The owner of The Spot confirmed Belongia had not returned to work and was considered terminated.
If convicted, Belongia faces up to 3 years and 6 months in prison on the felony count, plus additional penalties on the misdemeanor.
