Jamereion J. Myles, 17, Dajuan D. Brown-Thames Jr., 17, and Zjekahri D. Strong, 16, each appeared in court Tuesday and were ordered held on $75,000 cash bail. All three are being prosecuted as adults and face preliminary hearings later this month.

According to the complaints, the assaults occurred between June 9 and June 16 in A-Block of the jail. Surveillance video and witness statements revealed the three defendants repeatedly coerced a 16-year-old inmate into sexual acts through threats of violence, including threats to kill the victim and his family.

The allegations include multiple counts of attempted or completed sexual assault, threats to injure, intimidation of a victim, battery, and violations of jail regulations. All three are accused of forcing the victim to expose himself, threatening him with death if he refused to comply, and engaging in forced sexual contact.

Myles is accused of attempting to sodomize the victim with a broomstick and later inserting the broom handle into the victim’s mouth. He is also charged with punching the victim in the testicles, claiming “he ran things around here.” Myles faces a Class C felony for second-degree sexual assault, a Class H felony for battery by a prisoner, and multiple misdemeanors, including disorderly conduct.

Brown-Thames and Strong are both charged with attempted second-degree sexual assault, also Class C felonies, along with intimidation and threats. Brown-Thames allegedly rubbed his genitals on the victim’s lips after threatening to kill him. Strong is accused of doing the same the following day and threatening to harm the victim’s sister as well.

The criminal complaints also state that all three teens repeatedly threw a mixture of urine, spit, soap, and water at the victim and tried to grab his genitals without consent.

After the incidents were discovered by jail staff—prompted by a concerned call from the victim’s mother—video footage corroborated much of the victim’s account. The victim has since been moved into protective isolation.

If convicted of all charges, Myles faces up to 46 years in prison. Strong and Brown-Thames each face a maximum of 27 years.

    1. Sexually assaulting someone isn’t a ‘mistake’ it’s a violent, intentional choice. Trying to shut people up because they’re calling that out is exactly why victims stay silent. Nobody’s perfect, sure, but there’s a difference between messing up and committing a crime that damages another human being. Defending him just because he’s your cousin doesn’t make it right it makes you part of the problem. If you care about him, you should be encouraging accountability not trying to silence people who are rightfully disgusted.

    2. Um, yeah, I didn’t accidentally make the mistake of sucking another guy’s dick because I’m straight. Sounds like your cousin be slobbing that knob.

    3. Oh, right—just a little ‘mistake,’ huh? Must be so comforting to hide behind broken spelling and a dialect straight out of a third-world discount bin. You really thought people would take that seriously? They might listen, sure—like one watches a car crash—but agree? Not a chance. And your cousin? Let’s not pretend he’s anything but a predator with a fan club of enablers like you.

    4. We know enough to see he’s being charge for sexual assault while being locked up So Mia the whole world knows and see what type of guy your cousin is. It hurts but the fact still stands your cousin need help

          1. When this kind of thing doesn’t even register as a problem in a community, of course it goes unreported. I’d bet there are plenty more cases just like it that never see daylight—not because no one knows, but because no one’s willing to say it out loud. Why else do you think it’s a recurring theme in your so-called ‘hood’ novels? Art imitates life, and in this case, life’s just used to looking the other way—or worse, accepting it as normal behavior. And these aren’t just random crimes—they happen within families, behind closed doors, surrounded by silence. That’s what makes it so vile. But I guess that’s just another day in the 13%.

  8. This was definitely done by choice we all been in messed up situations in life what is the choices you make after even if you’ve been violated the damage goes a long way I’ve had family members that have been assaulted as such and it bears down on them the entire life people make choices they’re not always good ones but to own it would give respect to one at least you owned your problem but to walk away and say it didn’t happen is definitely the problem staying silent and not exposing it working through it with God on your side will make it easier but it won’t make a person forget how they’ve been violated more than likely these kids have been violated themselves people need to look at the big picture not just what’s in the picture but outside of it there’s a lot of damaging people out here that are raising kids having kids being raised by people they don’t know and the majority of it is family members that’s what’s sick about it people push it under the rugs instead of dealing with it and all it does is damage adults and then they start damaging other people’s families wake up this s*** is real
