KENOSHA, Wis. — A 45-year-old Kenosha woman has been charged after prosecutors say she fired a bullet into a neighbor’s apartment last November, narrowly missing where a woman was sitting on her couch.
Valorie J. Gruber-Grout faces three charges: negligent handling of a weapon (as a repeater), possession of a firearm by a felon, and first-degree recklessly endangering safety with a dangerous weapon (as a repeater). The most serious charge carries a maximum penalty of 12 years and six months in prison, plus an additional six years because of her prior felony convictions.
According to the complaint, the incident happened on Nov. 10, 2024, at an apartment building in the 1600 block of 60th Street. A woman told police she was sitting with her boyfriend when drywall suddenly fell around her, and she saw a hole in her ceiling and wall. Officers later found a bullet inside her apartment.
The neighbor, identified as Gruber-Grout, allegedly told the victim she thought the gun was jammed and said, “I’ll caulk it tomorrow.” She then reportedly came downstairs to look at the damage and said she would “find the bullet tomorrow” before leaving.
Police say Gruber-Grout, who was convicted of two counts of felony bail jumping in 2024, did not appear at the Public Safety Building after initially agreeing to speak with detectives. The Wisconsin Department of Corrections later issued a warrant through probation and parole.
The Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office did not seek her arrest when filing charges. Instead, prosecutors sent her a summons to appear in court on Sept. 18 for her initial appearance.

That’s a woman? My optometrist tricked me when he said my eyesight was fine.
That’s exactly what I was going to say! If that is a woman, it’s one of the ugliest ones I have ever seen
Leave my mom alone
“did not seek arrest”
Felon in possession of a firearm, a potential HOMICIDE …… and more …. and no arrest.
WOW ..
Woke city, little consequences for criminals. Possibly if you say that you have TDS and hate the man and ICE you get a warning. Possibly a city job offer.
I can fix her
