A Flock camera later captured the Equinox traveling eastbound on 55th Street away from Arbor Green. Authorities believe the victim, who had been in a vehicle when shots were fired, arrived at the Kenosha Police Department bleeding but refused an ambulance.
Witnesses at the scene identified the shooter as Anthony Neal, 53, of Zion. Not long after, Neal himself called 9-1-1 from a residence next to Lotus Sports Bar, reporting that his girlfriend was cheating on him. Officers went to the address, located Neal, and arrested him without incident. Police also searched the home as part of the investigation.
Neal was booked into the Kenosha County Jail at approximately 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
“Last night’s shooting appears to have been an isolated incident targeting the victim(s). There does not seem to be any further danger to the community from that incident,” Kenosha Police Lt. Josh Hecker said in a statement. “Due to nature of this investigation, I cannot further comment about the case at this time.”
Neal is expected to face attempted murder charges in the coming days. If convicted of the top charge of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, he could face a maximum sentence of 60 years in prison.
