KENOSHA, Wis. – The assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk has prompted swift reactions from local leaders.

About Charlie Kirk
Charlie Kirk, 31, was born October 14, 1993, in the Chicago suburbs. At just 18 years old, he co-founded Turning Point USA, a conservative youth organization that quickly grew into a nationwide network of high school and college chapters. Under his leadership, Turning Point expanded into affiliate groups including Turning Point Action and Turning Point Faith.

Kirk also hosted The Charlie Kirk Show, a daily talk radio and podcast program, and authored several books, including The MAGA Doctrine and The College Scam. In 2018, Forbes named him to its “30 Under 30” list in law and policy. He married Erika Frantzve, a former Miss Arizona USA, in 2021, and the couple had two children.

Kirk was assassinated on September 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University during a Turning Point event. His death has drawn national attention and tributes from across the political spectrum.

Wisconsin State Representative Amanda Nedweski released a statement Tuesday evening:
“Charlie Kirk worked to advance discourse and debate and welcomed those with diverse viewpoints to participate. We need more individuals willing to have courageous conversations and less violent rhetoric. Political violence is always wrong, and those celebrating his demise should be ashamed. My heart is with his family.”

Sandy Wiedmeyer of the Republican Party of Kenosha County also expressed outrage.
“We are horrified to learn of Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Charlie risked his life to promote open discussion and discourse. Yet again, political violence seeks to silence us. Please stand with us in prayer for Charlie Kirk’s family and our country during this difficult time. #Fight, Fight, Fight.”

Eric Meadows – Kenosha County Board Member and Former KUSD School Board Member

Kenosha County Board Member and Former KUSD School Board Member said “I abhor and unequivocally condemn with the strongest words the assassination of Charlie Kirk. The silencing of political speech through violent means is the very opposite of the ideals this country was founded on and such actions should be condemned on all levels of our society.”

John Morrissey, Kenosha County Board Supervisor (File Photo by Kevin Mathewson, Kenosha County Eye)

“The murder of Mr. Kirk is a horrifying and despicable act.  No matter one’s political beliefs, the deliberate taking of a human life is inexcusable.  Violence can never be the substitute for dialogue, debate, and peaceful disagreement.  My sincere condolences to his family.”

In response to a request from KCE, County Executive Samantha Kerkman’s office confirmed that flags at county facilities will be lowered Thursday as previously scheduled in remembrance of the 9/11 attacks. Per President Trump’s proclamation, they will remain at half-staff through Sunday, Sept. 14, in memory of Charlie Kirk. Kerkman also issued a statement:

“Today’s events in Utah were nothing short of horrific, and they touched my own family, as I have a niece who is a student at Utah Valley University. By the grace of God, she was not in the immediate vicinity of the shooting and was not harmed. My heart goes out to the family of Charlie Kirk, whose life was taken in a senseless act of violence that has no place in our country. Political violence is not acceptable under any circumstances.”

KCE has reached out toMayor David Bogdala (R) to ask whether the City will fly flags at half-staff. Former President Donald Trump ordered federal flags to be lowered.

Kenosha County District Attorney Xavier Solis (R)
(File Photo by Kevin Mathewson, Kenosha County Eye)

“Today is a tragic day for America. The assassination of Charlie Kirk is not only a devastating loss to his family, friends, and community, but also an attack on the fundamental values of free speech and civic engagement.

As District Attorney, I condemn in the strongest terms this act of political violence. Disagreements in a democracy must be resolved through dialogue and lawful processes, never through intimidation or bloodshed.

Our nation’s strength depends on the safety of its citizens, regardless of political beliefs. I stand with law enforcement as they work tirelessly to bring the perpetrator of this crime to justice.

On behalf of my office, I extend my deepest condolences to Mr. Kirk’s loved ones during this time of grief. We must remain united in defending the rule of law and ensuring that violence has no place in our democratic society.”

— Xavier Solis – District Attorney, Kenosha County

Erin Decker – Kenosha County Board Supervisor

“Words cannot express the sadness felt with the assassination of Charlie Kirk. This sadness can only be consoled by the fact that Kirk lived his life loving God and is now in His loving embrace.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.”

— Erin Decker – Kenosha County Board Supervisor

Felix Garcia – Kenosha County Board Supervisor

“I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Charlie Kirk.  Violence is never the answer. No one deserves to be assassinated because of their beliefs, especially in America.

Psalm 37:1-2 states, “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, Neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb.” ‭‭

Prayers out to his family and America.”

–Felix Garcia – Kenosha County Board Supervisor

“I completely agree with Supervisor Garcia expression and words. My prayers go out to Charlie Kirk’s family,” said County Board Supervisor Mark Nordigian

“I was shocked and saddened to hear of Charlie Kirk’s assassination.  I also completely agree with Supervisor Garcia’s comments.  My thoughts and prayers are with Charlie’s family and followers,” added Supervisor Aron Karrow.

“Today, like so many others, I am shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic death of Charlie Kirk.  This is a heartbreaking loss for his family, friends, and colleagues.  Regardless of political differences, Charlie was a devoted advocate for the causes he believed in, and his sudden and violent passing is a sobering reminder of the dangers of political violence in our country.  My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Erika, and their two young children as they face this unimaginable grief. “

— Kenosha County Board Chairman Monica Yuhas

Keith Gray – Kenosha County Board Member
(File Photo by Kevin Mathewson, Kenosha County Eye)

“This is a sad day for America.  Freedom of speech and thought are sacred rights of all citizens, and yesterday’s heartless taking of a son, husband, father, defender of our constitution, and leader of a generation by an individual who is intolerant of our inherent rights is an afront to us all.  Let’s take this event as a reminder to appreciate and utilize the systems our forefathers put in place to respectfully communicate and work together to live and prosper in peace,” Keith Gray, Kenosha County Board Member

Julia Robinson, County Board Supervisor-5th District
Julia Robinson – Kenosha County Board Member

“There should be no place for political violence in this country.  My heart breaks for [Charlie’s] wife and children. No one should have to watch a husband and father die. It is my prayer that we as a country remember that public discourse and disagreement is part of a healthy democracy but that violence is not. We must do the hard work of engaging with each other with words and not weapons,” said County Board Member Julia Robinson

Guida Brown – Kenosha County Board Member
(File Photo by Kevin Mathewson, Kenosha County Eye)

“I am heartbroken over the news from the past few days: Charlie Kirk’s assassination, the complete disregard for the murder and death of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, and yet another school shooting, this time at Evergreen High School in Colorado. We have got to return to civil discourse and a sense of society. We don’t have to agree with one another to care about each other,” said County Board Member Guida Brown

“The Democratic Party has long stood with the majority of Americans in calling for safer communities through common-sense gun safety. Yet today our country faces another school shooting — alongside the tragic death of political activist Charlie Kirk — reminders of how deeply gun violence touches every corner of society.

We believe children should be able to learn, families should be able to shop, worship, or go to a movie, and people should be able to speak in public without living under the constant threat of gunfire.

We condemn all gun violence. We don’t have to accept a society where it happens daily, driven by a gun lobby that bankrolls politicians to block reform. Every life lost to gun violence is a preventable tragedy. We can respect the 2nd Amendment while also prioritizing safety and finally taking action to save lives.” — Democrat Party of Kenosha County

Charlie Kirk and Nathan DeBruin

“I first connected with Charlie Kirk and Turning Point after testifying in the Rittenhouse trial. For a couple of years, I covered many of Turning Point’s major events across Wisconsin before officially joining the organization last year to help with efforts to elect President Trump here in the state.Over that time, I had the privilege of meeting Charlie many times, from events in Wisconsin to AmFest in Arizona. What always stood out to me was how genuine he was. He carried a smile everywhere he went, had an energy that lifted the entire room, and always made the effort to ask how you were doing. On more than one occasion, he would even stop to pray with you.Charlie wasn’t just a leader in politics—he was a man of faith who truly cared about people. I’m grateful for the time I was able to spend around him and the example he set. His conservative efforts inspired an entire generation of young conservatives, and his impact will continue to be felt for years to come. My heart truly breaks for what happened today, and I will be praying for his wife, his children, and the entire Turning Point family.”

Unfortunately, some violence-inciting democrats, like the Joel Trudell, a failed alderman candidate and man who was arrested for fighting with police, took to social media to praise the assassin’s actions.

KCE has also contacted multiple local officials for reaction and will update this story as more comments are received. This is a developing story.

  1. Hypocrites like Joel are the entire problem with this world. Cry and cry about rights, and your beliefs. But celebrate the murder. And this clown works in KUsD???

Who they are friends with and who they are trying to get to run for political office. Remember who their friends are………………..

        Hypocrital

    2. “Husband of the girl” you say? Infantilizing women, are we? Some parents wouldnt agree with you speaking of a woman as a girl.

    1. I think she was trying to capture the essence of Trump’s assassination, but unfortunately, it turned out very differently. I think it’s more of an emotional response, let it go.

    2. That’s the problem with the radical left, they think the only way to fight is through physical violence. Conservatives understand there are other ways to fight!
We should fight fight fight this perversion in America!

  3. It’s deeply saddening that Charlie, a true communicator, unafraid of debate, is no longer with us. He always showed respect, even to those he strongly disagreed with. When one side resorts to silencing the other through violence, it’s a clear sign of losing ground. What does the left want, assassinations as a new norm? Tragically, this could provoke retaliation from extremists on the other side. Today is a somber day for all true Americans, both right and left, and this cycle must be stopped before it escalates. Rest in peace, Charlie Kirk you will be missed. Hopefully, many new leaders will emerge to carry on Charlie Kirk’s work. To those celebrating, you are not America; you are the poison threatening our democracy.

    1. FBI just released the White early-20s college kid likely perp’s pics to the public. Looks like a free ride rich kid. Hopefully, his parents, high school and professor indoctrinators are properly dealt with extra-legally once identified. They are root cause social rot.

      1. What is this college kid turns out to be a right winger? Graduate of a private sectarian high school and currently attends a private faith based college; a college Republican who decided that was Kirk was turning into a RINO because he would actually listen to and debate those who had different viewpoints.

  4. Why are people afraid of talking ??

Are you afraid you are not on the correct truthful side of the issue ??

Yes there are two sides to most everything but it is talking that lets you on your side try to convince me on my side.

All Charlie wanted was a chance to convince you that his side is the side of truth and understanding.

People feel they need to kill the messenger when instead what they should do is try to convince others that their message is right.
Then shake hands and go home

    RIP Charlie Kirk

    1. Is your cock under 3” hard by chance? You seem like someone who isn’t a shower or grower.

Has a woman ever pointed at your crotch and said “ha-ha” like Nelson in The Simpson’s by chance as well?

      8
      3
      1. Pretty weird to inquire on the size of ones cock, I’d re-think my sexuality if I was a male married to a woman. Anyone who thinks this was a valid comeback is gay as well.

    2. yes, He would still feel that way. Charlie didn’t waiver in his his convictions. He knew he was up against evil people and had death threats daily. Oh, and to finish his quote….”We protect our politicians and pro sporting events with armed people. Why do we not do the same to protect our children.”? Yeah…..he sounds like a horrible person. Some of you people are disgusting.

      13
      3
    3. A rather ridiculous comment taken entirely out of context. Obviously, when citizens have the right to have weapons, gun deaths will be a fact of life. Car accidents are allowable to ensure we have a right to drive a car. You can remove every gun out of the hands of the citizenry, but you can’t remove every unbalanced nutcase. Any stupid death is horrible, and this political assassination is terrifying. But I have to say that the commentary on social media is chilling. We work with these monsters. They teach our children. They talk about emotional and mental health as they spew hatred, real hate speech. I don’t understand why these people who loathe this country so much don’t just leave and find an authoritarian Marxist state to live in and make IT better. Go. Please. We are no longer e pluribus unum. We are no longer one nation.

    1. Joel? Troy? Just use your name. You’re already exposed. I would be embarrassed to be related to your fat rat face ass running his mouth like you do.

      19

  5. We should all be thankful that we don’t share the mindset or actions of Mr. Trudell. I can confidently say that I would never celebrate the assassination of anyone, Democrat or otherwise; such behavior would only harm us all. Freedom of speech comes with a price, and many patriots have shed blood inside and outside our country to protect it. These senseless acts undermine what we stand for and disrespect the very freedoms we cherish. I feel sorry for Mr. Trudell, what must be happening in his mind? He should be monitored by law enforcement, as he clearly seems unwell.

    21

    1. What’s sad is he has kids and he is the way he is. Like the above comment says. Look at who he’s friends with, and who is running. His friend is Troy Landry, celebrating a murder and his wife is on the school board. That’s one of many

      9

    1. He sure has some nerve running his mouth like he can do anything else but eat. His wife and kids must be so embarrassed to be around him. Caputo, Landry, and all of them

  6. Trudell celebrates a man’s death just because it silences someone he disagrees with. This is seriously messed up. Hopefully, he doesn’t encounter someone who wants to silence him, it’s pretty ironic he thinks this way.

Hope you get the divisive personality treatment yourself.

    1. This seems like a pretty fitting reply for a no cookie getting republican. “She knows who” says a grown man behind a generic journalism post. If you slept with his wife, be proud about it “anonymous.”

      1
      1
      1. I don’t think kost would be proud of that. I’d stay anonymous too. Everyone has a drunken mistake or two in their life. Shes more like the moped joke.

  9. Avatar photo “Joel Trudell has a micro penis and likes to get pegged with a ball gag in his mouth in furry attire” anonymous sources say says:

I just took a dump and when I looked down Joel Trudell looked up at me from my toilet.

Joel, you’re a bitch and we know you like to get pegged. Everybody knows you’re a bottom! You probably liked the Ukrainian girl getting stabbed in the neck too!

Is there anyway Tom Homam can put bitch boy on the next flight to El Salvador to hang out in Maduro’s prison for inciting political violence?

    8
    2
  10. The left cannot tolerate someone telling young people they have a choice different from their indoctrination. They killed him for it, and cucks like that fat turd Trudell call him a facist.

    2
    1
  11. Politics has turned this country into a shithole the last 10 years regardless of what side you are in. It’s fucking pathetic.

Then again, I knew when nothing was done by either side after a kid walked in and slaughtered 15 kids in an elementary school 12-13 years ago that no one really fucking cares.

    1. Conservative chiming in here. Psychos are all over the political spectrum. All religions have psychos too. Can’t say I was a fan of Kirk. I don’t know how his family can find peace. Hope they catch this bastard quickly. All the shooter did was make everything worse for everyone. Left or Right. Hug your family, listen to some good music, break bread with your neighbor and volunteer when you can.

  15. Charlie Kirk’s highest impact could be as a live symbol of motivation, not as the live person who was terminated yesterday.

  16. A story about all the leftists celebrating the murder in front of the nation and his children should be done. Plenty of content.
    Andy Berg, plenty of comments
    Joel trudell same
    Landry
Just see the comments, their friends and connections. Our society sucks. And these losers are in school boards, schools, trying to elect people.

  17. They killed a moderate. Charlie was the release valve. If you lefties think HE was a nazi…..belive me. YOU HAVE NOT SEEN SHIT! Wait til the real “extremists” start poppin off. Its coming. The day of the rope….
