KENOSHA, Wis. — While Harborside Commons Senior Apartment Homes Property Manager Melissa provided Kenosha County Eye with a detailed explanation for a recent elevator outage that allegedly left elderly and disabled residents stranded in their apartments for nearly two weeks, neither Mayor David Bogdala nor Fire Chief Dan Tilton responded to KCE's requests for comment. Numerous residents and family members told KCE they also personally contacted the mayor's office seeking help and never received a return call. The controversy comes amid reports of missed medical appointments, missed work, recurring elevator failures, bed bug complaints, and growing frustration from residents who say nobody in city government has stepped forward to explain why a senior housing complex was left without its only elevator for approximately 12 days.

This is not ok. Management should have to refund residents
Most are Section 8
Not true, but even if it is, are you to have us believe these residents are not entitled to live in a safe, lean environment?
Class Action 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Maybe the fire department doesn’t care because they don’t have a trans flag displayed on the building.
Please tell me they don’t have one on the FD…
One what?
……. LOL …
Fire Chief Dan Tilton and Mayor David Bogdala they are part of the reason our taxes are so high! Both useless and over matched by there job title.
Should fire both of them..
Hard to believe only one elevator in that complex.
Marginal to low fixed income senior citizens are viewed as economic deadweight with social entitlement complexes in US culture and the cargo cult political class. Unlike in other cultures, they are not honored. US Senior life without either/or sufficient post 65 employment, investment, pension, annuity, or inheritance income to supplement Social Security is limited and possibly very tough. Their golden years often wind up as “yellow shower years”.

America is not for the people. It’s for the rich and people who wear tiny hats
This is utterly disgusting! Our state prisons that house sex offenders, rapists, killers, are not allowed to go this long without an elevator! But, you let the elderly? OMG… Can you imagine if there was a fire? Wow! Im dumbfounded. SMH
Elevators do not operate during a fire. The shaft acts as a chimney and fills with toxic smoke etc.
So, in other words, the residents would burn alive? Does the building have an evacuation plan? Do they conduct fire drills regularly? Who signed off on the building plans? They knew one elevator for 89 apartments was a bad and dangerous idea.
The mayor doesn’t care about about
Disabled or seniors are low income people he’s rich in only cares about his friends I personally think he is worse than the former mayor
Why do we keep electing morons ?
City Administrator John Morrissey is paid $200,000 a year to do a job the Mayor was elected to do. Morrissey is a failure and the only reason he is occupying another government chair is to pad his state pension. The City Administrator position should be eliminated so that there is no buck to pass when the Mayor is not doing his job.
You are absolutely correct.
However, it is worse than that.
Morrissey has a fake college degree. Yet the mayor and city council do nothing.

He’s also on the Kenosha County Board.
He’s an infection.
Lightning strike ?
Put in a lightning rod system. Not difficult.
Elevator abuse ?
Double or triple the schedule frequency of the part replacement.
If these types of buildings with these types of tenants use wheelchairs and walkers and other mobility devices above and beyond the norm then increase part replacements schedules.
Is this the first building on the planet that requires its own unique and different maintenance and upkeep cycles ?
Are these problems not the same elsewhere ?
Why hasn’t this elevator been scheduled for a complete rehabilitation ? A job that with proper planning and expedited round the clock work could get done very quickly.
Otherwise just put in the second elevator and wait another 30 years for that one to fail.
It is EXACTLY these types of community problems that the Mayor should be standing outside of the building with his phone in hand making all the calls necessary DEMANDING RESULTS from the building owners including full inspections from city workers and the fire department to assist as needed from the first call until the exact minute the elevator is repaired !
Why wasn’t a complete fire house of personnel stationed in front of this building carrying every single tenant up and down the stairs 24 hours a day until this situation is resolved ?
Sure the firefighters can leave if a call comes in but otherwise we are paying them to be awake 24 hours a day as needed so we should be able to demand that they do it here !
Every day until they are not needed.
Then send the building owners a bill !
This is how mayors lose elections.
By not showing up !
I agree- but make the firefighters on overtime so as not to detract from the normal expected call volume of the city. And BILL the owners of the building directly for that overtime cost. I bet it will be fixed pretty expediently….
What about the city inspection department?
I’m sure the Mayor was doing a photo op for Facebook with the other clowns running that city! Gentrification. It’s not good!

The blowhard Mayor is on a local radio show monthly touting that he’s all about safety for the citizens of Kenosha. Such a POS windbag along with the Fire Chief, entire Inspection Dept., City Admin. Only in it for your tax dollars. Don’t bother with the Inspection Dept. Director Roberts couldn’t find his fat ass with a bell tied to it.
What about the eye sore where the hidden Pike Creek flows into the lake by Anna’s. That rusty steel whatever the f that is sure is a detractor from the lakefront…come on finish the job there. Butt ugly.
Somewhere in all the layers of building inspection code requirements, along with Federal ADA regulations there must any number of ways to cite the building owner and force immediate action. Generally elevators rate very high in regards to risk management and liability exposure so this whole deal is sort of confusing.
I’d guess that in any Kenosha gov’t building that has an elevator and employees who require it for mobility immediate action would be the order of the day.
Don’t let the bed bugs bite
My fellow Americans, you’re selfish and greedy, that’s the problem.
Mayor showing his true colors, it’s the whole lipstick on a pig 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Know somebody that lives there havnt been back there in 3 years. The place is nasty and its a bed bug factory. On top of that there is drug dealing going on there. I’ve witnessed it.
It’s time for the state of Wisconsin to update their building codes for senior apartment buildings. This should not have happened.
The mayor should put down his fork and ask his wife how he should protect his senior constituents.
Once its all fixed the mayor will stroll by for a photo op….seems that’s mainly what he does. Honestly have not had a single good experience dealing with the city since Pacetti left. I know many didn’t like him but every single time I called and left him a message he ALWAYS responded and fixed the issue. Once during the winter every street but mine was plowed in my neighborhood, I called him and he said he would look into it. 30 minutes later a city employee knocked on my door and apologized stating the plow assigned to our area had a mechanical.breakdown and our street would be plowed shortly. Street was clean 1 hour later. I still wish he had run for mayor.
