A violent confrontation between a Kenosha man and his roommate almost turned deadly Sunday evening after a violent melee and a gunshot. Robert B. Parise, 53, of Kenosha was charged today with Felony First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Felony Possession Of A Firearm By A Felon, Possession Of A Firearm While Intoxicated, Obstructing An Officer, Domestic Abuse Battery and Domestic Abuse Disorderly Conduct. The Kenosha DA’s office did not include any drug charges or felony strangulation and suffocation charges even though Kenosha Police found evidence of such. Parise faces almost 25 years in prison if convicted of all charges. The incident called for a response for a hostage negotiator to be summoned to the scene and a very large police presense.

On December 1, 2024, Kenosha Police responded to the 500 block of 40th Street in the City of Kenosha. Upon arrival, a Kenosha Police Officer heard a loud bang come from inside of the residence that he recognized as the sound of a gunshot. A male exited the residents and stated “this guy Rob and his nephew just shot a gun off.”

Parise came to the door, but refused to exit and disobeyed the officer’s commands to do so. One of the victims, a roommate of Parise, told police he had lived at this home with Parise for about two years. The home is owned by Parise’s mother and father. 

There was a gathering of several people and they were socializing. A fight broke out and Parise grabbed one of the victims by the neck and squeezed, restricting his ability to breathe freely and causing him pain. Parise yelled “I’m going to kill you!” multiple times. One of the victim’s mother tried to break up the fight.

Parise eventually barricaded himself in a room using a large speaker to block the door from opening. Parise yelled down to his other roommate saying “get my gun ” multiple times. A loud bang, which was recognizing a gunshot, followed soon thereafter. 

A Kenosha Police Department hostage negotiator made contact with Parise by phone. Parise stated that he “relapsed” and told officers to “go away or shoot me.” Parise said the only way he was leaving the residence was in a body bag and said he had a pellet gun and his father’s rifle in the residence. Parise advised that he’d rather be dead than spend time in jail. Eventually, Parise said all he wanted was to make and eat a sandwich and then exited the residence.

Police determined that Parise was highly intoxicated. Upon searching the home, they located a Remington Speedmaster model 552 on the middle of the floor in the first-floor bedroom. Officers located one spent shell casing on the living room floor, and an unspent cartridge. 

Pariset denied discharging the firearm to police, but stated he discharged a pelet gun. Parise told police he consumed three beers only and used cocaine. On Parise’s person, officers located almost $1,700 in cash and a spoon with white powdery residue on it.

Kenosha County Assistant District Attorney Daniel Tombasco asked for a $10,000 cash bail, citing the amount of possible prison time and the seriousness of the allegations. He also told the court that Parise has a criminal record including Felony Injury by Intoxicated Use/Vehicle, Resisting an Officer, as a repeater and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Criminal defense attorney Frank Parise today, asked for a lower cash bail, citing the dated criminal history and the fact that his client told police that he thought he shot a pellet gun and not a real gun.

Kenosha County Circuit Court Commissioner William Michel II reiterated the seriousness of the allegations and set bail at $10,000 cash.

Parise is due back in court Friday morning for a preliminary hearing. Update: Paris posted bail just after 7:00 p.m. Monday night and is free.
