KENOSHA, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Corrections has notified a Kenosha County judge that Dominick Black, a probationer best known for his connection to the Kyle Rittenhouse case, violated the terms of his probation and is being ordered back to Wisconsin.
In a letter sent yesterday to Judge Angelina Gabriele, Probation and Parole Agent Kimberly Ruhle reported that Black failed a drug test, was kicked out of substance use programming, and missed a mandatory probation meeting. The violations stem from a sentence Judge Gabriele handed down just over two years ago, when Black pleaded guilty to fleeing police during what prosecutors described as a drug-induced crime spree.
According to court records, the case began in May 2022 when officers attempted to stop Black for reckless driving in Kenosha County. He refused to pull over, leading police on a high-speed chase before crashing through a fence. When officers approached, he ran — leaving behind a passenger who suffered serious injuries. Police deployed a spike strip, which Black stepped on during the chase, injuring his feet. Officers said he appeared disoriented, irrational, and under the influence of drugs.
Inside his car, officers found drugs and drug paraphernalia. Black later admitted he had taken hallucinogens and hadn’t slept in days. He was charged with fleeing an officer and multiple misdemeanors, including bail jumping and drug-related counts. Most of the charges were dismissed in a plea agreement in February 2023.

Judge Gabriele withheld a prison sentence and placed Black on three years of probation with six months of conditional jail time. He was ordered to undergo drug and alcohol testing, complete substance use treatment, avoid alcohol entirely, and meet regularly with his probation agent. He was also required to maintain work or education, and stay away from bars and other alcohol-serving venues.
Black’s supervision was transferred to Maryland after sentencing. But on Oct. 21, 2024, he tested positive for alcohol. He began a treatment program the next day, but was terminated on Jan. 13 due to poor attendance. Despite being given multiple chances to re-engage, he has not returned to the program and failed to report to his agent this month.
The Department of Corrections has instructed Maryland officials to prepare for his return to Wisconsin. If he does not comply, a warrant will be issued for his arrest.
Black first drew national attention in 2020 after purchasing the AR-15-style rifle that Kyle Rittenhouse used during the Kenosha riots. Black, also a teenager at the time, was charged with providing a firearm to a minor. Those charges were dismissed in 2022 as part of a plea deal that included a $2,000 fine.
Judge Gabriele has not yet said whether the court will take additional action.

Sure personal responsibility is paramount but, to have his whole life put on page 1 for weeks and weeks and months and months then to hope the celebrity fades away and life can get back to normal. But it doesn’t.

Too damn bad for him. He is in a totally different state, and could have started his life over without the fanfare. Instead, he chose to break his probation. Now we should feel sorry for him….LOL. Life drops everyone in the middle of something that they don’t want, whether it be a divorce, an illness, miscarriages, etc., but we move on; and he should too!
Who gives a fuck what he went through and seen? You make him out to be a combat veteran or something. He is a trash and a burden on society.
His father committed suicide when he was a senior in HS, about a year before the Kenosha shootings. The shootings unleashed internal struggles that he seems unable to control. I know him personally. He is a nice kid who just can’t get his life on track.
Maybe you can help him get the therapy he needs.
I probably will be talking to him soon. But he has plenty of people offering advice on therapy including his family. I don’t think it’s my place.

He was devastated by the loss of his father to suicide and the Kenosha shootings destroyed his mental state. He has suffered badly at the hands of fate. I hope someday he can overcome it all.

Johnnie with respect, his devastation for his father suicide is understandable and is sad that his father was a coward. This is no excuse for breaking the law, doing hard drugs and leaving an accident after a police chase with an injured party.

Except he already got his second chance in the original Kenosha trial where he was allowed and directed to turn his life around. Obviously he’s not capable of doing that outside of a “structured environment” i.e. incarcerated.
I don’t see that in the probation officer’s report. He failed one drug test for alcohol in a two-year span. Does that sound like he’s out of control?
Well, he’s certainly not in control, and he’s not sufficiently grateful for the fact that he’d even been given a great second chance. Compared to being in prison, the list of things he was expected to do wasn’t unreasonable, yet he failed. As for the number of times, I go back to the old adage on how many times someone has driven drunk compared to how many times he was caught and ticketed.

Dominick sent me the probation officer’s report to the judge. Dominick has been on probation for a little over two years and all I see is one recent probation violation for alcohol. Is that it? I realize it’s a violation, but I don’t get the sense from that report that he is using drugs. He has been randomly tested for two years and apparently none of those tests came back positive for drugs. If he is using drugs, how likely is that? I honestly don’t see the neighborhood threat here.
