KENOSHA, Wis. – A 31-year-old Kenosha man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly assaulting a woman and injuring a police officer during a domestic disturbance early Saturday morning.

(Kenosha County Sheriff)
Oscar A. Avila Jr. appeared in court Monday, where bail was set at $15,000. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 7.
According to the criminal complaint, Kenosha police were dispatched to the 1600 block of 53rd Street around 12:39 a.m. on Aug. 2 after a 911 caller reported, “Can you get this man he is beating me.”
When officers arrived, they saw two young children outside. The man at the residence, later identified as Avila, allegedly tried to slam the door on one officer’s foot and then kicked it, causing pain. Officers say Avila then pushed the officer, resisted arrest, and clamped down on the officer’s arm, resulting in a wrist injury later diagnosed as a sprain with a possible ligament or tendon tear.
Police say the woman involved, identified as the mother of Avila’s children, had visible bruising and scratches on her face and neck. She told officers Avila pushed, slapped, and punched her multiple times during an argument, chased her down the street, and was intoxicated at the time.
Avila is charged with felony battery to a law enforcement officer, felony resisting causing injury, misdemeanor domestic battery, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct – both domestic abuse related. If convicted on all counts, he faces more than a decade in prison.
